We have been frequenting Tacoma Szechuan for several years now, and each visit has been a delightful experience, marked by exceptional service and exquisite culinary creations.
With my daughter’s 25th birthday just around the corner, we were in need of a catering solution that would truly impress our guests. During one of our cherished meals at our favorite restaurant, I decided to approach our trusted contact, Sean, to explore catering options for the special occasion.
To my delight, I discovered that they do, in fact, cater for events. We settled on a fantastic selection of dishes: Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Mongolian Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Beef Fried Rice, and General Tso's Chicken accompanied by fluffy white rice.
Sean went above and beyond by personally delivering the feast steaming hot right to Gig Harbor. He thoughtfully included two generous tubs of sweet and sour sauce on the side, ensuring the chicken maintained its crispy texture and didn't become soggy—a testament to the restaurant's keen attention to detail. Along with the main dishes, he also provided an assortment of hot sauces, chopsticks, and fortune cookies to complete the dining experience.
The food was nothing short of spectacular, and our guests were absolutely thrilled with every bite. The flavors danced on our palates, showcasing the authentic and vibrant taste of Szechuan cuisine. It's often the case that large orders may not live up to expectations, but this was a delightful exception. The entire meal was outstanding, all thanks to Sean and the dedicated team at Tacoma Szechuan.

Read moreThe recent visit to Tacoma Szechuan was a delightful experience from start to finish. The impeccable service by Sean set the stage for a fantastic meal, where each dish shone through with its own distinct flavor profile.
We began our culinary journey with the honey walnut prawns. The plump, perfectly cooked shrimp were bathed in a sweet and savory sauce, with a delightful crunch from the generous amount of walnuts. The balance of flavors was spot-on, making it a dish that both tantalized the taste buds and satisfied the craving for something decadent.
Next up was the Mongolian beef. Thinly sliced, tender beef was stir-fried with a rich, savory sauce that had a hint of sweetness. The accompanying vegetables added a welcome freshness and textural contrast. This dish was a crowd-pleaser, offering a flavorful punch without overwhelming heat.
The pork chow mein was a comforting classic, executed perfectly. The stir-fried noodles were crispy yet yielding, while the tender pork and colorful vegetables were all cooked to perfection. Each bite was a delightful combination of textures and flavors.
Finally, we couldn't resist the General Tso's chicken. The crispy-fried chicken pieces were cloaked in a sweet and spicy sauce, offering a delightful contrast. The spiciness was present but not overpowering, allowing the other flavors to shine through.
Throughout the meal, the service was exceptional. Our server Sean was attentive without being intrusive, and his recommendations were spot-on. He ensured our glasses were always full and our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable.
In conclusion, Tacoma Szechuan delivered a winning combination of delicious food and excellent service. The honey walnut prawns were a decadent treat, the Mongolian beef offered a flavorful punch, the pork chow mein was a comforting classic, and the General Tso's chicken provided a delightful sweet and spicy experience. As you can see in the picture it was a basic hot pot, not pictured fried rice( plain just veggies) and side of "prawns" which were really small shrimp.
My family and I had dinner here Sunday. After looking for a place to try out. All the pictures and good reviews caught our attention. We go in and take a seat and place an order for fried rice, white rice and we went for buffet style hot pot with added prawn which we were first told price was a one time then told it was charged per refill. Well we love to have a flavorful broth so we got the prawns anyway. Food was ok. I can say we have had better. What threw me off completely was that between the hot pot and fried rice a small plain rice bowl and small shrimp " prawns" we paid $98 plus tip, and not just that but when we ordered the hot pot we had to order minimum for two people to do the buffet style. Besides that since we technically ordered hot pot for 2 adults we got the Ying yang ☯️ pot with 2 different broths. My husband has the spicy I had the non spicy because I would be sharing with out small child. Upon receiving our check I asked what the extra charge for "Ying yang hot pot" was for since we had gotten a 2 person buffet style hot pot. And I was told that I was charged for using that specific style of pot were they put our broths in. So I assume that if I wanted I could just rent an empty pot to stare at it would still cost me $10+tax. We were never give any "pot" options because we ordered the minimum for 2 people we thought it made sense to get 1 pot 2 broth. It would have been nice have been made aware of this charge and it makes me wonder 🤔 if we ordered our broths in separate pots would we have been charged more?? I would not recommend this spot besides the fact that their inspection score was just ok, there are better places with no "pot...
