Veteran's Memorial Park — Attraction in Las Cruces

Beautiful park dedicated to all veterans. They have a wall that has the name of every Las Crucen that served in war and at the time of a war. My Father's name is o. That wall and it's something my family is very proud of I show my daughter Everytime we go visit it's the first thing we do, she runs to the big, long wall looking for Grandpa. We walk the along the path viewing all the displays and statues, admiring their beauty. Afterwards we go to the small but fun playground and let my daughter play. Although this playground is small, she really enjoys it. She loves visiting the "dinosaur" under the rock wall. If she's not too tired we run around on the grass field if their is no one practicing soccer at the time. Great park for small bday parties has large sshaded area with tables and grills. Few visitors to Las Cruces, NM realize this Veterans Memorial exists, and even fewer recognize the significance of New Mexico's contributions, (...but this is typical, as there are many veterans war Memorials). What commanded my sincere interest & attention in particular were New Mexico's exceptional contributions during the Battle for the Bataan Peninsula in early World War 2, and consequently the well-known sacrifice by U.S. & Philippine servicemen afterwards during the deadly Bataan Death March and brutal imprisonment. This Memorial park is a short drive from the busy and popular shopping centers in the NE part of Las Cruces and worth a neat half-hour stop. I have been here many times before and every time I visit I have a wonderful time with my friends and family. There is many attractions including a playground, beautiful memorials, and alot of space to play. The memorials are well constructed and honor many of our veterans who served. The park is not very busy depending on the time you decide to go but usually there is plenty of space for you and your family.
