Another place of magical charm and history is the Las Vegas Plaza in Old Town Las Vegas NM Visiting here for the first time in the mid 60’s I found myself steeped in history. The Southwestern Architecture stands out and literally brings you back in time. Plazas were always places were people gathered to sell and buy wares and go to the church that always is the focal point for Southwestern Plazas. Festivals happened here with a magical flair. Artisans , farmers and ranchers offered goods to the many sightseers that also gathered here. I have been back many times which always brings joy to my heart. The many vendors that sell food and the restaurants serve food deep in Southwestern tradition. Beautiful accommodations are available if you want to spend a few days getting to know the area. One gem is the historic Plaza Hotel. This is a beautiful hotel that welcomes guests as they are old friends. Another must see place as you visit this beautiful area of NM in San...

Strolling through the Plaza, I am met with warm smiles and greetings from park-goers. A lively event unfolds on a nearby side street, while children play amidst tranquil surroundings and elders gather on park benches for conversation.

The architecture of the surrounding buildings transports me back to the early 20th century, with some even suggesting a late 19th-century origin. One can almost feel the weight of history here, imagining figures like Doc Holliday, Billy the Kid, and Fred Harvey, the hotel empire builder, who walked these very paths. I can even envision Theodore Roosevelt reliving the glory of San Juan Hill with his fellow Rough Riders from the area.

The place truly embodies history, allowing visitors to become a small part of its ongoing narrative. Where dandies and outlaws once mingled, the Plaza still remains a vibrant center of modern...

Such a unique experience, the rooms could be cleaner, but you're signing up for an experience more than anything. There was construction going on while we visited, which was a little off putting, but the front desk employees were very nice and helpful. If we pass through here again, I will definitely come back. There's a cafe, bar, gift shop, and restaurant. I don't have a single complaint about any of those places. This is a place worth staying and affordable. Also they have a strict mask policy, respect it, to keep there business open. I hope...

4th of July fiestas party with the annual parade. It's amazing with local vendors and the Anton Chico shops. Check out the spice store! They have spices you'll never find other places. The live bands were amazing and great food for foodies. People treat you like long lost friends and are very welcoming.
