I visit this library very often since I feel very comfortable using it and find the staff both very friendly and knowledgeable. However two days ago which happens to be 9/11 ( a date most of us will never forget I am sure), my brand new Samsung smartphone was stolen. At first I couldn't figure out how it happened but I was determined to really think try and memorize my exact moves when I last used it since this is the second cell phone that has been stolen from me in a month I need to help me not to have any more thefts. I remember I only moved from the newspaper reading area to the computer I was scheduled to use at 12:20 PM.
This is what I recall happened: I was sitting by the table reading the Sunday Review since the male sitting on the other side of the table was reading the Monday Review that I really wanted. I waited patiently since it was a particular article I wanted to read but it seemed he was not about to give it up any time soon. I remember my phone rang and looked at it but of course declined the call. I also remember the male looking over and I now of course realize he was looking at my Samsung phone. At the same time I looked at the big clock ant noticed it' was 12:20 PM and unfortunately hurried to the computer reserved for me. I am not the type that constantly check my phone and it was not until I wanted to try and take a picture of a person I was asked to do on her online photo and I looked in my purse and couldn't find my phone. I looked over where I sat at the newspaper area and on the table although I knew I didn't put it there. I did notice the male that was reading the Monday Review was gone but at first didn't think much of it.I searched my purse once more and began to panic and also searched my "little luggage" I carry around although I never put my phone there so I gave up. It was not until several hours later that I knew that after declining my phone I never took the time to place it in the particular pocket in my purse once I noticed it was time for me to use the computer, it was on my lap and when I got up it simply fell on the floor and while an honest person would have said " you dropped your phone on the floor Ma'am" I sat next to a thief unfortunately. -- I have not seen him again and I am sure I will not because I would recognize him since I remember looking at him more than once while watching to see if he would give up the paper.
Hopefully the gentleman that was using computer number 2 I believe, it could have been number 3 but I think it was 2 that day from probably 11AM and on is reading this because I noticed he left his Samsung phone by his computer for at least 10 minutes or more unattended. I was going to give his phone to the person that was in charge of the computer room at the time but then got distracted and forgot. Had the person that must have stolen my phone (he was the only person in the reading area at the time) noticed another Samsung I am sure he would have taken off with yet another Samsung phone. A thief is a thief. On 9/11 I can't believe you would allow yourself to sink that low!!! Shame on you!!! Don't come back here!! No library...
Read moreI've been to probably 5 Clark County libraries, and I finally though I found the one I can study, be free, play a few games, and get some work done, first time I came in there was a really nice polite helpful gentleman with brownish hair that made me feel welcome and was even concerned on my horrible beginning of April 2025.... From day one one been working and moving money was stolen, felt like just killing myself then I meet this guy, he offers me study room 5 left me alone, and for that hour and 45 minutes I was finally FREE, I come back a few days later I'm welcomed by a young black girl, who also took good care of me, and then it happened, nice elder white woman comes to the room and tells me to turn the lights on, now why is this a problem, well one thing I didn't mention is the day before I had them off, no one bothered me, but then security, it was quiet and peaceful, but today I'm told to turn the lights on because people do perverted lascivious things in these rooms, and I get it, that's disgusting and wrong, but have some judgement, what about ME that you (only you) think I'd do that, my monitor is facing the window, all I do is pay bills, watch online classes and play my game when I'm free, the homeless people can't even afford the equipment I brought in, and I don't smell like I sleep outside I'm sure, I have a HOME to do pleasurable things to myself or anyone else, I came here to think, to rest from a long day of work, and to get with done before going home to my son NOT to masterbate because the lights off, I tried to explain the lights give me a migraine, I specifically come in the room because the amount of light shining through works as a dim lamp from outside the window, but that bright blinding light just gives me a headache....
Needless to say i left after spending 5 minutes getting set up and was told to keep the light on because of what a few people who were here probably years before me have done in the past, I have to pack everything BACK UP and continue my endless journey to find a library that isn't full of the smell of urine, or loud music and...
Read moreWhat really got my attention was, how the employees treat's the homeless people inside that place, they have passion and compassion for those people instead of giving them a hard time and banning them from entering that place because of the smell and the dirt on their body's and clothes is absolutely terrible so, but now it's a place for the homeless hang out from the summer time Las Vegas heat above the 100's is nothing to play with 😆 they slept around the building all night to wait for the opening the next morning and, they hang out inside with the nice cool AC until they closed at 8 o'clock in the evening, and then the same routine continues each and every day,, lots of them are physically bound to their wheelchairs and older disabled, but the younger one's does their running for errands to the surrounding stores like that, at night before bedtime, they all get together to share their smokes and drinks and then get ready for bed whenever they chose and in the early morning hours, the runner's goes to the nearby store with everyone's money and order, to buy and then pushed back in a shopping cart and distributed according to his list, watching all of these by my own two eyes gave me this review, and that's pretty much it on a daily but what stand's out is the respect and treatment by the library employees, normal just like you and me, and for that main reason, I'm giving that Charleston library a 5 plus some Star's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ plus many...
