I can't help but be a little disappointed with his store. I've been going to it for a long time, and I've seen it through Food Lion, Bloom, and then back to Food Lion. I liked it better when it was a Bloom, and was sorry to see that it reverted to a food Lion. Mostly I shop for perishables here -dairy, meat, and vegetables.
There is a small section of gluten-free-style food, but it's nothing like what it used to be. And the selection of everything is... well, a little dinky, especially for serving a large town like Leesburg. I really just wish there was more variety, like there is at the Fort Valley, VA Food Lion, for instance.
The one good thing I've seen lately is, the introduction of the Nature's Place/Promise brand- and several others like it - which, for the meats, means cage-free, antibiotic-free, growth hormone free. Prices are okay,- better than the other local choices of Safeway, Giant, and Super Target- and they do have a few self-...
Read moreIt almost seemed ridiculous how phenomenal the customer service is in this location. It's a clean, well lit supermarket with everything you need in a convenient location..... but, let's talk about the crew that works here; From the minute you enter the store until you leave the parking lot the staff was courteous, helpful, professional and friendly without being intrusive.... that's hard to do! Example, a store manager stepped in to open a register while doing price checks for another checkout and communicating with stock.... and was courteous, helpful and friendly to customers.... like juggling, chewing gum and riding a unicycle..... someone came and asked if we would like them to return our cart for us while we were loading the car.... all of this with smiles and great attitudes..... all kinds of other little things and details, well run store, well trained crew. I'm from NY, the water in Leesburg got something special in...
Read moreI liked it better when it was a Bloom, but then they changed it back to Food Lion and it went downhill. Don't get me wrong, the prices are pretty good, you can find a good variety there, and the store is brightly lit. But the customer service is non-existent, and the whole store has a bit of an apathetic feel to it these days.
On the bright side, you can often get discounts on the meat if you come at the right time, and the Nature's Place brand is raised without growth hormones or unnecessary antibiotics.
It doesn't help that most of the forest to the right and back of the store has been taken out to make way for yet another Mega housing complex, totally inappropriate for the space, and sure to add more traffic to already- congested roads around the store. It's hard not to feel a little sick when I drive by it now, and that's really a shame for the store. I hope it doesn't end up losing business now...
