I've been going to this place for about a year now and I'd say it's pretty good. They've got a bunch of tables set up in the back of the store for people to play and trade cards. They've got everything from Vangaurd and Pokemon to Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic. I'm a Yu-Gi-Oh player myself and I go to this store fairly often. As for card prices, I'd say they're a bit weird here. For example, they sell Evilswarm Thunderbird for $4 but I can get it on Amazon for like $1.50. But they sell expensive $80 cards like Dante of the Burning Abyss for $65, so they sometimes lower the prices for people. Also I see people complaining about not being able to look through the boxes of cards themselves, but the inside of the store isn't very big so they don't really have the room to let people do that stuff. It gets kind of hard to move in the back with all the tables when it's completely full on the weekends when they hold tournaments for Magic, Vanguard and Yu-Gi-Oh. There's a Jack-in-the-Box right next to the place so you can get food and the owner lets you eat it in the back, but you have to roll up the mats otherwise you'll ruin them with the food. You can also trade in cards and the owner will give you store credit, but he won't give you cash. They also have to be cards that are A) Very valuable in terms of price and B) Cards that he doesn't have in stock. He also takes 360, PS3, PS4, and Xbox One games for credit and he gives you a lot more credit than places like Game Stop. If you're not into card games this place also has a collection of sports collectibles, vintage toys, board games, video games (both new and old), and I've even seen a couple of skate boards. I'd highly recommend this place to you if you play any of the card games I mentioned above, and if you do go I would do it sometime this week because they are having special Black Friday deals all week long that are definitely worth your money. (Yu-Gi-Oh players, they're selling The New Challengers booster...
Read moreI don't ever leave reviews but I had such mixed emotions about this place, and being from out of town, I thought I'd leave a review for the next guy.
First, don't judge a book by its cover. Pictures didn't do the store justice from the outside. I'm not familiar with the area of Lemon Grove, but it doesn't seem as nice as some of the other suburbs of San Diego, however the shop inside was unexpected. Bigger than I thought and had nice displays of the Yu-Gi-Oh! singles I went to look at. Also some sports gear as well which I thought was cool.
Prices weren't bad on most cards, but some were a little dated for the current format and market price as of this post. But my biggest issue was the follow through on the customer service. It wasn't as bad but the cards I picked up I specifically asked for 1st edition on some of them and the young man helping me just said that they were all 1st Edition. So trusting that, I purchased the cards (almost $100 in total) and went on my way. Once I got home later, I realized that 2 of the cards I asked for were not 1st edition and I paid a 1st Edition price for them. I'm a little upset, again, for the lack of integrity of the store and myself for not double checking. Lastly, was kind of annoyed that after my purchase, the young man just said "Here ya go", and turned around. The man who seemed like the owner, didn't really bother to say anything. Just thought it'd be nicer to hear a "Thanks" or something after a higher purchase like that.
So all in all I'll give the store the benefit of the doubt and stay neutral on the review. Most shops like this won't have outstanding customer service, but I was pleasantly surprised by the collectionable YGO cards they had and product of the store. Still found cards there that I haven't been able to find all over Southern California.
Just make sure to double check all the cards...
Read moreTLDR: this has the worst customer experience and service hands down; call before you attempt to come here or just go to San ysidro games for a great customer experience, service, set times for open and close and yugioh!
Only photos I got before being asked to stop my review I wanted to review all Yugioh shops in San Diego highly but I guess nothing is that easy. Not friendly people unfortunately they have a good shop with a fair amount of cards but it should be ran with different management or customer service in mind. I’m not a stickler on it but the bare minimum should be atleast warranted; came in and looked around said good afternoon to the counter and got growls back.
They have funkos I can’t show you, Yugioh selection I can’t show you and magic I barley was able to. I can understand the area the shop is located in may warrant some suspicious to everyone that walks in but come on. Not to mention the “open whenever they feel like it” vibe I’ve tried to come here multiple times over the passed few months to no avail but calling is a best way to figure out the times to come over which I can commend for the structure. The only save grace from a one star for this place is the card selection other then that good luck with your experience here.
The Yugioh community I’ve interacted so far in my life as a duelist has nothing but negatives when mentioning this place but always has positives for when it comes to their stock. Trading is banned here, buying and selling among players is banned, appraising for customer cards for the store is up in the air since I didn’t get that information.
Honestly if you want a good introduction to the most popular card games I’d say avoid this place for your first time to not ruin your palette and scare you away from a...
