Bought a fiddle leaf fig plant and while checking out I noticed white spots on the plant but the lady at the register assured me it was just water drop marks from their sprinkler. She said it should come off just by wiping the leaves. I wiped the leaves and it still remained and spread to new growth, so it was apparent it was powdery mildew. I tried several treatments of neem oil but the mildew has persisted. This wasn't the lady at the registers fault and isn't the reason for my one-star review.
On my birthday this year we decided to go back to the nursery to shop around. I bought a plant and honestly didn't look at it too much because it appeared to be healthy and doing well and my 4 year old was running around so we made things pretty quick.
When we got home and I went to plant it, I noticed the same water type drop marks. It was on the newer growth as well and because of my last experience with a plant bought from the family tree nursery I didn't want to chance it being powdery mildew and spread it to my other plants, so I took it back.
While explaining to the two at the register, Riley (who is the friendliest person I've probably ever met!) and a lady, called over "Jim" (or some older gentleman whose name starts with a J and probably holds a management position at the nursery) who was so dismissive and rude about my concerns with the plant. He was clearly insulted by my insinuation that the plant possibly had powdery mildew. His demeanor was so off putting that the rest of the shopping trip was uncomfortable.
I have loved all family tree nursery's since I was little but I won't be back to the Liberty location because I can't support a business that hires a man who thinks it's okay to treat people less than. I respect your knowledge, sir. I respect what you do for a living, sir. But that doesn't mean you know everything. And it also doesn't mean you should treat people in a condescending way just because you don't like our opinion. I didn't come in there behaving rudely or upset. I was smiling and just explaining my concerns, but I suppose because I look young, I don't deserve respect. Not sure what his deal was but it's not okay to treat people like that.
So one star for Jim or Jeff or John, can't remember, and one star because both the plants I have bought from this location had powdery mildew. But then adding a star for Riley whose name I definitely remember because his smile was welcoming and sincere. Thank you for caring and being a nice...
Read moreRead moreExperience was great. Customer service actually exceeded my expectation. They helped with great attitudes as if they wanted to make sure I was happy. I bought 2 trees and one of the younger men offered to wrap them in burlap so I would not destroy them on the way home. For $20 I bought a fungus that would warranty them for 5 yearsWhat?!?!?. Warranty a tree? So now I want to address complainers of prices. You get what you pay for. When you judge a business behind your computer at least be smart about it. If you want cheap food and poor service eat at McDonalds, but if you want great food and service you have to pay more. Fact of life. 1 man in a truck can give you cheaper service but cannot provide the service that a bigger company as overhead and quality employees cost the business more which cost the customer more. Rant over...As for the truth about Family Tree Nursery. They have 4 times as healthy and more established product as box stores. At Lowes and Home Depot the trees looked like they were going to die before I got them home and, they were tiny for $125. Family Tree Nursery with awesome service and massive in comparison trees with more choices for $250. Whoever the owner is, thank you for a great business and product. I...
This is a wonderful store and I spend well over $1,000 here every Spring. However their COVID-19 "protections" leave something to be expected. You sign up on a website and book your appointment so there will be social distancing. You get there and wear a mask, "to protect others" and their staff comes right up to you without a mask to take your cart and debit card. Then they send another person to your car, without a mask, insisting you roll down your window so they can hand you your card and reciept while they breath on you at 1 foot away. Then they tell you to drive down and get your soil at the bottom where another employee greets you, again without a mask and asks you to roll down your window to give them the ticket so they too ca breath on you at 1 foot away. Then they load it in your trunk and ask you to roll down your window again so they can breathe on you AGAIN without a mask from 1 foot away while they hand you back your reciept for the 3rd time. How did this store protect me? I also tried to call to tell them or advise them on their website but there is no way to do that. I am posting this for those who are at high risk so they can...
