EDIT: first just don't bother, their pizza was so bad I thought it was wrong. The owner stated they were going to reach out to me never did however upon further investigation the first pizza we got was made wrong for their standards probably had half the cheese that they normally use, that being stated the picture in the original image still looks like they flip my pizza over at some point. Now that I know though that this is just actually how their pizzas come this was probably the worst pizza place I've ever had next to pizza shoppe. that place tasted like actual first graders made the pizza. It's the basically the joke of want more fries with your ketchup but instead it's more pizza with your cheese. And like bro cheese is greasy or at least the one they use like look at that picture. I lived down the road, that was like 8 minutes fresh and it had THAT much oil already on the box. We drove by the other day and they either changed location or closed for good.
Original: Moved here like 3 months ago and tried this place then. Got it tonight and it was absolutely not the same pizza. It looked like it half way got flipped on the box but the toppings looked like they hadn't moved however when I say toppings I just mean a mound of cheese on top of the toppings. The first time I really like the pizza but this time around it just was a undercooked wet pizza. Feel like it's a one time thing but wow was it bad for just that one time. Held the pizza upright the hole time and like I said the top didn't seem like it got flipped but the photo is still how my box looked to try to give an idea. No idea...
Read moreQuite possibly the worst pizza I've had. Maybe grade school lunchroom pizza was worse. But that was 45 years ago, and my memory could be exaggerating that public school pizza, so J&S wins for Worst.
Their specialty 16" Chicken Margherita for $22 was basically a 14" soggy Saltine cracker with a few tablespoons of bland tomato sauce, a couple piles of rubbery mozzarella, and a few pieces of chicken. When my wife finishes half a large pie and leaves hungry, that's pretty bad.
I would have gladly shared my opinion with the server or manager, but after bringing the pizza, we were abandoned. Nobody asked how the food was or if we needed drinks. Hell, we could've eaten another large pizza, it was so small and poorly accoutred. But not for $22 at $5.50 it might have been a fair price.
Despite the place being mostly deserted, we had to go to the bar to pay. Our server saw us and made us wait while he finished sweeping, letting us know the trash on the floor was more important to him than our time or money.
The interior was basic bar with some cheap TVs. Nothing enjoyable, interesting, or inviting about the atmosphere. The open, trussed ceiling echoed the voices of the few patrons there for lunch, making them sound louder than they were and sharing their conversations.
Minsky's is right up the street and 1000x better. Or Stone Canyon in Gladstone. If you prefer thin crust pizza, Pizza Tascio in North KC has it nailed, and their large pie...
Read morePlace is super dark in the evenings. Thank god the font on the menu is huge and has good contrast or I wouldn't be able to read it. Don't bother with the CHZ Bread for 5.49, it's 4 slices of white bread with some shredded mozz on top and then shoved under the broiler to get it looking pretty.
Pizza was aggressively mid. Got a meatball pizza. If you like a huge glob of melted cheese, then you're golden, but I think I'd prefer a cheap frozen pizza with some extra mozz thrown on top. Red Baron pizzas sell for like 6$ and are definitively better. Nothing stood out in a particularly positive way about the flavor, texture, etc. It sure was a pizza, but that's about all I can say about it. I even had basil added to the pizza and couldn't taste it at all.
Waitress had kind of a strange attitude. It definitely felt like she's used to getting complaints.
There was also a little sparrow trapped in the building that no one seemed to be acknowledging.
This place is okay if you're doing laundry next door and absolutely need something to eat for you or your kiddos on a budget, but that's about it. Based on other recent reviews I'm guessing quality must vary night to night by who's working the back of the house, because I can't imagine fantastic pizzas coming out at the same time as the mediocre pizza I had. If that is the case, the manager/owner needs to be doing some serious retraining/firing because someone's...
