Hotel Current Long Beach — Attraction in Long Beach

If I had a time machine and could go back in time to switch one thing, it would be avoiding this Motel that calls itself a hotel. I had high hopes for this "hotel" because when I first walked in I felt very welcomed from the this guy staff he was very nice and he made checking in very easy. The reason I am writing this is not for that, because when I was in my room I found a roach in my room.. I went straight to the front desk to see what they can do, but when I went to the front desk there was this lady (didn't catch her name) but she had blonde hair she was very rude and unprofessional. She gave an attitude and acted as if she didn't believe me. She had an attitude while showing her the video on my phone. After that situation, I was given a room expecting to be far away from the previous room but gives me the room right next door...

I left it like that since I was already done and upset I just wanted to switch rooms already. As soon as I got into the second room a big STENCH of cheap cigarettes hit my face! Felt like someone was just here 5 seconds ago and left a lit cigarette in the room.. it was like if the smell was embedded into the walls and carpets. I felt like I've annoyed the women at the front desk enough and again just left it as it was. Time passes and I went out for with my girlfriend for our anniversary dinner and when I came back I found another ROACH in my room! It was my last straw.. two in a row!! I went to the front desk again and asked if I can please get a room far away from those two rooms. This time it was a different guy but he was nice and professional he had told me that they were packed but was some how able to find a room far away. From the original 2. but my thing is this could've all been avoided if the lady earlier would just give me this room when I have asked for a new cleaner room. At that point it was already 12:30. We were extremely upset, uncomfortable, and disappointed in our stay of 3 ROOMS in this motel. Yet, this room, was much cleaner, renovated, no carpets and the microwave wasn't in the bathroom like the disgusting other rooms. I understood where all these good reviews are coming from! Even though this room LOOKED better, we still stayed up an extra 30 minutes to insure our room wasn't contaminated or infested like the rest. When it was finally time to check out of Hell. We wanted accommodation for the amount of stress and fustration we were put during our 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. But we were told false information and the manager Wayne, was not there to greet or fix this situation. Before leaving we were insured by the staff working on that Sunday (9/7) morning that he would compensate our stay. But as of Today (9/9) we were charged the total amount! And awaiting to hear back from WAYNE for our refund on this...

I have been here before during the summer of 2016-in the bigger scope of rhings-overall it's a gem of a hotel- the good things, the pool, the area surrounding the. Pool has a lounge atmosphere as does the music. The staff are easy going but remain professional a d accommodating. Lots of pool towels provided, I saw a lot of ground maitenence. Security is quick and helpful. Nice morning breakfast selection. Cool art on walls and plants. Rooms are well designed. I included pictures. Now-the issues that required to be delt with... The first time -they room while looked clean-smelled of pot,cigs and booze and appeared it had a party in it recently-so we requested and received a call from room. The. Second time we made a point to get a clean smelling room -which was acknowledged and provided. The slide magnwris card did not initially work but security dude was quick to pick up on that and get a new door card. I took a few pics of some other minor details ,(a ding in the wall for eg.,) But the room was very nice and enjoyable. Sliding doors for bathroom and shower/toilet room. Soap/shampoo dispenser in shower. Lots of towels,iron, a lot of other toys I took pics of. The pool was not heated and stated as broken . What I like about this place-its a good way to play tourist in my own town kind of place, it is a well taken care of place -not sleazy. I see a lot of international tourist at breakfast time-Oi! That's always a good sign. The hotel is hidden in a jungle of palm trees and has Di'Piazzas is a little ways up the street(excellent live music...

Wow, I am impressed!!! I was not expecting much coming into this hotel since it looks like any roach motel out in Long Beach; boy, was I wrong! Once you step into the lobby, you can tell it's not your ordinary hotel/motel. Here's why:

Free WIFI (it actually works; connection is moderate) Modern room with cable; seems remodeled Free Shuttle Service from morning till 10:30PM (within 5 miles) Heated Pool Lounge Chairs with Hip Music playing gently in the background (by Pool) Comfortable Bed Large Shower with Rain shower-head Fridge Couch Free Breakfast Flat Screen TV Free Parking

The breakfast is till 9:30am and it's legit! Scrambled egg, sausage patty, yogurt, breakfast burrito, bagel, toast, muffin, coffee, OJ, and a waffle machine were the things provided for us. I was blown and this review went from a 4-star to a 5-star review! Hotel Current's staff is A+ as well with great customer service; patient and informative!

I think another one of their plus is their shuttle service because you can take it to Long Beach Airport, Downtown Long Beach, and the Queen Mary just to name a few. They can also pick you up for free, too! Plus, they have deals on Yelp and Jet Blue; just ask for a discount!

We stayed at Room 136, which was next to the laundry room for the staff. Pretty quiet overall since we only had to share one wall during the night. Bottom line: I would come back and also recommend this hotel for anyone staying at Long Beach! PS, checkout was noon, but we were able to do a late...
