Scherer Park — Attraction in Long Beach

This park could be phenomenal instead the upkeep is horrible. The bathrooms are disgusting. The play area for the kids is full of trash debris and junk. The paved walkway throughout the park is full of duck do do. The duck pond is filthy . I feel so sorry for those animals. The young people that work in the office are always sitting around laughing and talking instead of getting a broom and come out and sweep the and wash down the surrounding area. Do not let any of your kids go in the bathrooms alone. There's lot of suspicious looking creepy men ,homeless and the deprived hanging around that park. Some sleeping on the ground mumbling to themselves. One old white man was in and out of his car as if he's doing something very important. Back and forth and back and forth he went rearranging stuff in his car; up and down very strange. He had no shirt on and half his behind was reveled due to his pants almost falling down right in front of play area for children. Young thugs or maybe people living in their cars, smoking drugs, sleeping and making out behind their tinted windows. Just horrible. Even though the police department it's right next door you very rarely see them circulating the park in fact their building seems deserted. All these other people who gave this place five stars is odd to me. They must have came when the Park first opened and it was beautiful because it sure need officials to intervene and change this scenario I...

I like this Dog Park because it's small and has trees for shade inside of the Dog "Pit" areas. They could use more pooper scoopers and some general maintenance, but all in all it is a good park. This Dog Park is pretty laid back for the most part. I like the area around the park also, plenty of trees and grassy areas with picnic tables. The restrooms are too far away in my opinion, can't change that, but they could add a couple of portable toilets just outside of the Dog Pit areas for customer...

It's really nice here. There are a lot of ducks which makes it entertaining for kids and adults alike. There's also a toddler playground and a bigger kid playground, a shaded giant sand box, and a separate swing area. If you have a dog they have a dog park area that seperates the small dogs from the larger ones. If you're into exercise, there are trails all over including a steep area near Atlantic to really work out your legs. It's a gorgeous park, there are a lot of little bridges and...
