An overall great stay at the Alsace Hotel for a solo traveler! I would happily come back! Room was as clean as it gets, looked great (amazing bathrooms) and was of adequate size. Despite a check-in delayed by nearly 1 hour because the staff could not find my booking (an issue solved by Donald who was of great help, more on that later too), everything went well! The gym has everything you need (some surprising choices given the nightly room price, more on that later), the swimming pool is an absolute delight and sitting outside for breakfast in the outdoor space always hits. The neighborhood is lovely, a bunch of bus stops are around and the E line is a 15-minute walk. Definitely recommend eating at Mizlala or Vicky's All Day, both a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Now, as someone pointed out, there is a slight disconnect between the nightly rate and the value provided. The mattress is comfy, but not that comfy, the bike and rowing machine in the gym are not Peloton but sub-brands (sorry, Echelon), the breakfast consists of pastries (they're great, but the choice was rather limited and the lack of healthy food does not feel very LA), and the shower quickly runs out of hot water. Also, PLEASE remove the snacks from the in-room minibars. The healthiest option was a bag of Skinny Popcorn, and they were very expensive, even for in-room snacks... Also, the staff could not find my booking initially (paid with Preferred Hotels points), so we had to call Preferred Hotels, and the check-in was delayed for one hour. The Director of Operations, Donald, was very helpful throughout the process, and apologized by phone and at the gym afterwards. However, the fault was on the hotel, but I somehow had to provide my credit card for an authorization that covered a deposit BUT also a part of an additional booking, did not get any compensation for the inconvenience, and was not asked at checkout if everything went well or anything. I work in the luxury industry and probably have high-standards, but those small details can be dealbreakers...

Lot of red flags at this hotel trying to be unique but failing at lot of fronts. Booked and added notes about my pet but nothing was provided but will come to that later. First arrived at the hotel but no one at gate to greet but no one to greet at the gate so not sure exactly where got go for check in until I found the tiny lobby (it’s very small, difficult to fit anyone or move your luggage around). Once I checked in and went to our room, it was rather small for the price and all the way opposite of the elevator. We were happy to see a welcome card and snacks but only to find that it isn’t our name written on it… There was also no water bowls, treats or toys for our little Yorkie. I let the hotel know of these issues that night and during check out hut no body seem to be trying to amend anything other than mentioning policy and it is only provided when asked. As we try to leave, the door was barely open and no one was there to offer help in giving a hand even if they were present. Unfortunately the area isn’t much to offer as well. Was very unlucky as the restaurant wanted to visit was booked out for event so literally nothing to do after dark. So this hotel isn’t a good location as it’s middle of nowhere so lot of travelling time is wasted. It very disappointing to say the least that a hotel that cost this much to offer this kind of hospitality and will definitely be more cautious when a hotel is so focus on the look without nailing down the essentials of good accommodation.

If you didn't know this hotel existed, you most likely wouldn't see it--very non-descript from the outside. But the chic interior more than makes up for the outside. Hotel staff is limited (just one person at the checkin desk), but it was enough and very friendly. The rooms are spacious, especially the bathroom, helped by the absence of a closet (there's an armoire). There was no carpeting in my room, so it was a bit harsh. There's no bar and no restaurant. A pool is tucked away in the back of the property. Oddly, during my two-day stay, the location was an Uber dead zone. If you are ok without a lot of amenities and want a hip place offering spacious rooms, this is a good choice.
