I visited for the biannual Art Walk, a two day open house for artists in residence. A mostly adult event, but you will see families during morning and early afternoon. You will find everything from clothing, eco conscious sportswear and jewelry made from car parts, fine jewelry, photography, textiles, paintings, pen and ink drawings, interactive video installations, pottery, printmakers, home decor, candles, greeting cards, metalwork, sculpture, gothic and carnival art, children's books, cut and folded paper...something for just about any style or taste. During this event, you may purchase beer or other alcoholic beverages and sit in the beer garden outside; there are several restaurants inside. There is no public parking at facility lot for this event, but free street parking available in the surrounding neighborhoods. Be prepared to drive a bit to find it. Most items for sale can be bit pricey, but most vendors are willing...
Read moreAnother Hidden Gem in LA! So much going on here I need more than a day to check everything out!!!! This is the largest artwalk I've been to!

My favorite one was the SteamPunk (?) room where there were a lot of intuitive interactive games. The "interesting" one is a room full of grotesque mutilated antique dolls.

TIP: few hours isn't enough to see everything here bring cash for food/drink bring water to stay hydrated while you walk around wear comfy shoes come with an open mind :) show up early so you can find good...

The pros: its free, the parking is free, there are many studios to look at The cons: the was only one brewary and it was cash only and was overpriced ($15 for a 12oz solo cup basic michilada). Parking can be tough early but after 1 or 2 pm there are a lot of open spaces. If you aren't super into modern art it can be a bit of an odd experience, especially the art that looks like a blind child created but art is subjective and I guess what matters is the effort. Not handicap accessible- a lot of studios are in upper levels (flights of stairs) but no ramps or elevators.
If you go bring your own pa k of beer with you, saw plenty of...
