Really glad I found and did this tour and discovered amazing murals and street art! The whole neighborhood is full of murals and the tour only gives time to see a fraction of them so the tour serves as a great introduction. Really enjoyed the tour, however the guide seemed a bit stressed and didn't provide a proper introduction to the space and the tour itself, giving rise to strange/unnecessary questions from participants... There could also have been more focus and commentary on graffiti rather than just focusing on muralists. Nonetheless, I warmly recommend this tour for its high value for money, an expert guide, and world class art work!

I just went on the graffiti art tour with Galo on a rainy day in Los Angeles. He was the perfect guide, an experienced graffiti artist, knowledgeable, articulate, and very funny. He explained the symbolism, the history, the inner workings of the world of street art and graffiti in such a helpful and engaging way that I want to sign up for any future art tour he's leading. I've viewed street art and graffiti in Paris and New York, but this was the first time I was invited in to the meaning of the entire genre. I was so impressed with the talent and ingenuity of the artists, and have Galo to thank for a totally fabulous experience.

Unique survey and interpretive bike/walk viewing street art, primarily murals. "Nuke" was a great interpreter, ask for him. Doable walking, but best by bike. Bring your own or rent a metro bike stand near the Urth Cafe start point.

Galo was the tour guide and he was sooo negative in the first 15 minutes of the tour that my husband and I decided to just scrap it and do the Samskara experience instead. This tour was only $12 per person--so it wasn't a big of a deal, but it was disappointing. The tour guide introduces himself by asking what your name is, telling you you're not on the list (when you give him your last name) and then when I offered my first name he said, "Ok." Hmmm. Nice to meet you too? This is starting great....

Then we walk to the first wall that he's going to talk about and he goes over the spelling of his name several times, complaining about reviewers that misspell it...and then about all the art he doesn't like, and won't cover on the tour. Then my husband and I move under a tree for a little shade and he asks, abruptly (in the middle of his rant), "Are you moving for shade?" And we respond yes, and he seems annoyed that we upset the flow of his negative speech. It's hot in LA today. Why is it a big deal that we're just looking for a bit of shade? And what is with starting a tour with soo much much negativity? Btw, we moved under a tree that was maybe 10 feet away from the group--it wasn't a big deal, shouldn't have upset his flow, and didn't need to be pointed out.

I mumbled to my husband, after the description of the first two walls, that Galo was a bit salty and he responded, "He's negative" and we both decided that Samskara sounded like a much better way to spend an afternoon. Btw, Samskara is great! Also the Artists District Co-op and The Resident (DTLA Kitchen) right next door have great food, shopping, and art nearby. I'm happy that we slipped away just as the group was rounding a corner, right in the beginning, and recovered...
