BEWARE OF THIS LOCATION! I purchased a 2015 Lexus gs350 in December and still within the 3month/4k mile warranty period. When I took it to get inspected by my mechanic an oil leak was found. I took it to get checked at CarMax canoga park and they wiped the area! They denied it of course and tried to play it off as seepage which they don’t cover. Lawrence the service manager was rude. He told me “it’s an embarrassment for him to even have to ask his technician if the area was wiped”. I contacted corporate which was NO HELP at all. They were just a middle man. Luckily they approved a 2nd opinion so I took it to Lexus Woodland Hills dealership and again confirmed the leak after they added trace powder and checked it with UV light. CarMax won’t allow me to take to my trusted mechanic for repairs and after the negligence I experienced from them wiping the area I would never trust them working on my vehicle. They don’t take out engines on a regular basis and wouldn’t trust them taking it to a small third party shop they recommend. It’s a big job… DO NOT TRUST this location or carmax overall. I don’t recommend you or anyone buys vehicles from here. Originally had purchased vehicle from Bakersfield CarMax and they told me they were aligned with Canoga Park. I’m going to have to pay for the repairs out of pocket. I am NOT risking CarMax damaging my car, engine, or saying they did something when they didn’t like when they wiped off the oil and claimed they didn’t . Attaching proof of oil before taken to CarMax and photo of area Carmax wiped along with 2nd estimate received by Lexus dealership.

I have a Mercedes cargo Van, I advise the appraiser this car is in demand and very useful and sought after, all she said was “o cool” the car is worth way more then I owe I already knew that and I know I can get more if I sell it private but here is what they did, they saw my balance and offered me $1000 more thinking I would be happy with a paid off car and a thousand bucks , I went to IMX auto group and another dealer both offered me $5k more then this carmax , did. They DID NOT give me a good offer but they tried to trick me , I told her upfront they have a car in their inventory that I want and that didn’t matter either , they could of had this car in their inventory and sold me the other car.

Was a good experience, I did not buy a car through car max but it is nice being able to look at all the cars/trucks.. hard to find a car/truck with low mileage and not be overpriced. What is most important when buying a used car, get a certified pre-owned at a dealership , for it will carry a certified warranty with the price of the vehicle and easy to find certified cars/trucks using carguru online. I found my 2021 vw tiguan se certified at pacific volkswagen in Hawthorne, CA,, at $21000 with 24000 miles using carguru. Carmax could not come close.

Horrible customer service. We can’t beg them to take our 94,000 payment. It’s mind blowing. No one knows what’s going on . We attempted home delivery 4 days ago . All seems great easy friendly staff, then I ask to pay w live rep. However they send a payment link 1 hour before the vehicle delivery apt time doesn’t leave much room for any issues that may arise. I understood the payment has to clear before the car can be taken. But we could no enter the bank account info manually only through logging in to you bank in the plaid system but since he doesn’t have online banking there are no credentials to login and no resolve for this situation.Usually I can verify your bank w a micro deposit and connect that at by entering in your routing and acct number but not here. So my grandpa wrot wnohsyical check I handed to the car delivery man who could not accept bag payment and they had to take h car back with them.

We quickly made an apt for the next day, my grandpa set everything up w a in store rep now the purchase order was already signed , the car Insurance was purchased , nothing was changed all we had to do was to now go in and pay in person , to then still have the car delivered. The only change was the form of payment , they said it would be electronic check. My grandpa could not come in hence the set up of contactless delivery , So my grandpa drove in anyway and hand delivered a check for the full price of the vehicle marked void to run a electronic funds transfer ach debit. My grandpa wen at close so he put the check in the night drop box at the front door for my apt the next day. He wrote a note to continue the home delivery after payment is verified and completed.

No one responded the entire day , I called 4times asking if payment was run so delivery can b scheduled. I tried again at 6 pm to schedule delivery when I was told no payment was received or run. I drove immediately to the store to try and process the purchase. I was greeted by the night shift manager whom seemed extremely annoyed I was trying to do a purchase this close to closing time. despite the fact the entire purchase had previously been completed in the system with the only thing lacking was the payment . The car delivered th night before meaning paperwork was done. The manager said he could not do anything without my grandpa present. My grandpa had a medical procedure the next day but came w me after about 8 pm . I asked the manager to come to the car to do the transaction he refused citing my grandpa had to come in and be on camera , What are they implementing? If that’s not incriminating statement. The total was 94987 he wrote a check for 95000 the manager refused to take the payment. For a 6 dollar discrepancy. We’d have to return said ok get grandpas info needed so I can just bring in the corrected payment tomorrow. The manager refused to start the purchase citing we can’t split up a car purchase over 2 days , that’s not how the dmv works, it has to all b done the same day. I said ok then let’s do it all now u can just say we paid 6 bucks more we’ll sign something he said no that’s not how check writing works. I requested to verify grandpas identity for the am apt He refused stating they have to watch him write the check the day of the purchase , I said that makes no sense if u can do it solely contactless online. Why are the standards so different. Why can’t this company accommodate or adapt to any different situations, does the no haggling line mean no Commonsense no accommodation no customer service , no ability to change w changing situations or any appreciation of business , full cash payments being turned away over bullshot with a jerky smirk . It went from the most exciting event for us getting inheritance early buying a dream car to being treated like criminals . This is by far the worst purchase experience I’ve ever had. My grandpa said if the car isn’t delivered by noon today we will take our 95,000 gladly elsewhere and to post reviews on all social media sites horrible management This is a...

Bought a car in November 2023, after having the car shut down on me middrive and getting it towed to the dealership (recommended by carmax under dealership warranty) only to find out Carmax themselves installed the wrong oil filters and installed them wrong making my oil spill out completely. Paid for an overpriced oil change and tow due to carmax's negligence

Requested email, was denied an email but I do not want any "he said she said" problems. Still in limbo.

**UPDATE: after I sent a very detailed email laying out timelines and how they were negligent, I got contacted immediately by the manager of the Canoga Park location, Lalo. Very kind, understanding, and respectful. Apologized and has agreed to reimburse me for my out of pocket expenses as these should not have happened in the first place. We definitely had a discussion about the negligence and how that 100% needs to be addressed in which Lalo agreed was going to happen.

I have changed my review to 4 stars. The people I worked with the entire time have been very kind when figuring out this situation and the sell itself at that location was so smooth; however, my major issue was the fact that the company allowed my car to be serviced improperly and not caught before selling to me. If it was not for buying a newer car with sensors, my car could have become useless if I started my car with zero oil in it. I did not want another customer buying an older car from them with the same type of service done, and they don't get any warning, which then leads to the death of their car after paying a good amount for that car because let's face it, this type of purchase is not cheap at all especially during these times.

I will take into account that indeed my car was shipped from another location to Canoga Park for my purchase which means that the other location definitely did do the oil change negligently; but the point is my car was shipped to Canoga Park and they still passed it off without catching this oversight. Lalo understood this and has advised that he will ensure that the responsible teams and his own staff will be spoken to to ensure avoiding these types of oversights again.

I removed 1 star, keeping this at 4 stars instead of 5 due to the initial negligence, but I appreciated everyone's help from the location in...

DO NOT USE CARMAX. I sold my vehicle to them on March 10th of this year. They tell you they will take care of everything. This includes registration. Then, I received NINE different tollway violations because they sold the car to a dealer, and the car's registration remained in my name. They make you send every single ticket to their tickets and towing dept. so that they can "take care of it" for you. Only problem is, after that ticketing entity was told that I was not the registered owner, I received a ticket from another toll evasion entity in California, 405 Express Lanes.

Over the course of the past month, I have spoken to the manager at the Roscoe Blvd./Canoga Park location, Sean Ruiz, who only told me to keep sending violations incurred by the person driving the car I no longer own and to call customer relations for Carmax. Oh, and he said, "I'm sorry" a lot. I called customer relations, and they were NO HELP. The first person I spoke with had the job of making me feel taken care of...then I got the call from the person who supposedly understood California law. Wrong. She told me to continue to send all tickets to tickets and towing. She, nor anyone at Carmax, would give me the name/number to the legal dept, to the direct supervisor of the manager at Carmax on Roscoe Blvd, nor to anyone who understands California law or could detach my name from the registration of the car they bought from me.

Let me reiterate...I do not own the car anymore! Carmax bought it for 9k on March 10th. BUT, because they take NO responsibility for the dealer that they sold the car to nor do they take responsibility for transferring the registration out of my name or being registered AT ALL, I am STILL, on June 24th, the registered owner of a car that can incur tickets, do illegal activity, and anything else. So, for as long as this person wants, they can illegally drive the car I no longer own, registered in my name. That's what you have to look forward to if you sell your car to Carmax. DO NOT SELL YOUR...
