Taxpayers should plan on spending a couple of days at the self-help center while the new receptionist, lawyer and volunteers "figure stuff out" and you continue to miss another work day at their expense and laughter.

Taxpayers are allowed to help themselves and finish filling out legal aid paperwork until 4:30 pm at the self-help center.

The receptionist kicks taxpayers out before 4:30 pm (usually around 4 pm) so the lawyers and volunteers can chitchat about how the day went because the receptionist and the lawyers don't get paid past 4:30 pm.

The receptionist will threaten to call the sheriff if a taxpayer doesn't leave before 4:30 pm, but dont listen to her. The sheriff will come to the self-help center anyway and politely remind all remaining taxpayers that the self-help legal access center in chatsworth will close at 4:30 pm.

Just make sure you leave before 4:31 pm.

The self-help center should advertise on Google Maps and/or in BIG letters on or near their front door their preferred days and hours for priority (who they decide to help, not by your number on the sign-in sheet) cases. For example: domestic violence, unlawful detainers, restraining orders are prioritized in the morning (8:30 am - 12:30 pm) or afternoon (1:30 pm - 4:30 pm) session, so taxpayers can clearly see.

Instead, taxpayers are not given access to legal aid on Friday afternoon because there is no afternoon session on Friday's, so taxpayers have to leave when they break for lunch at 12:30 pm.

These suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated if they were seriously taken into consideration by upper management so that taxpayers don't have to take unnecessary additional time off work to get help with completing one form.

Many, Many mistakes by the Small Claims clerk!!! I went through Hell with this window! When I put a Lien on a property, she made MANY mistakes to a point that my husband and I had to re-do all the paperwork. He had to take time off from work and drive to the courthouse not once, but TWICE to get it right! All the while her arrogance was nauseating! When to take the Lien off, and she gave me paperwork for the COUNTY RECORDER that wasn't a certified copy! She should have known this simple task! Drove down to Van Nuys only to turn around and drive back to Chatsworth, to get it stamped. I had Supervisors involved in putting the Lien on and off because the clerk flat-out didn't know what she was doing! She has a clear LACK of training! But, what scares me the most is that she lacks common sense completely! When someone tells you their going to the County Recorders with their paperwork, all steps should have been followed to avoid any incompetent mishaps! These gals should be investigated.
