Gateway Plaza Fanfare Fountain — Attraction in Los Angeles

They need to get water back in the fountains. are you people so stupid your not suppose to swim in it. Somebody actually said not sanitary. Hey dummy it's not for swimming. There are signs everywhere that say don't do it. You don't even have to know how to read . Signs show a no swimming picture. That's probably why the fountain don't work. Not what it use to be at all. Whole place looks like crap. Dead plants everywhere. Nobody cares anymore.... .update ......I'm in shock they actually have water back in the pool and lights but what happened with the water show. It's still a no go. There has been no water shows or music for years now. It took so long to get the water back in and I still see dumb people still trying to swim inside of the pool. Or they let their dogs go in. I love dogs and have my own that I bring but I sure don't let them swim in the water. It's not for swimming people. That's probably why the water show is not working. Someday it will be all working shows and music. I keep hoping!!!! This is a more current post.....they FINIALLY have the water show working again!!!! What a big improvement!!...

I excitedly followed the construction of these fountains in 2008, my 1st irn son saw them in 2013 in person, every since covid/the pandemic they've been shutdown due to "maintenance".

I've called the port, messaged them on their social media accounts, nothing.

They've opened other projects over the past 4 years, and still nothing in regards to these fountains.

I've called the manufacturer WET Desing in Sun Valley, CA, they say it's the city of San Pedro that's dragging their feet....

Blame game.

Unfortunate, that something soo beloved by everyone within the city and all around the surrounding South Bay area, has gone to waste and no one wants to be open and honest about what's going on.

I will miss the holiday celebrations on those cold nights with vendors nearby, with special holiday shows from 7-8pm, with 10 minute intervals...it was better with 5 min. Intervals.

The fountain show is great, if it works, but parents allow their children to swim in the water which is prohibited and when that happens they trip the safety wire which causes the the show to not work on numerous occassions. For some reason they ignore the obvious signs to not get in the water. English and Spanish. This is obviously not a swimming pool but these special parents come there expecting their children to swim and going as far as even having them wear swimsuits... Ignorant.... Be prepared to see children in the water, water that's not filtered, dirty, and full of contaminants. Makes it very difficult to enjoy during certain times of the year. Otherwise, it's a good site to visit...
