Exploring the Spot | OC's Lau Vietnamese Street Food Joint is Absolutely Delicious

If you're wandering the streets of Silver Lake and craving something special, look no further than Bé Ù. This little spot might not scream for attention, but once you find it, you’ll feel like you’ve stumbled upon a secret worth sharing. With its authentic Vietnamese flavors and a touch of LA charm, this restaurant is a true gem that blends tradition with a modern twist. Parking: Let’s be real this is LA, so parking isn’t easy. Bé Ù doesn’t have a lot, but street parking is manageable if you’re patient. For those grabbing takeout, there’s a temporary pick-up zone nearby, which is a thoughtful touch. Service: From the moment you arrive, the staff treats you like an old friend. They’re warm, attentive, and eager to share their menu favorites. As a first-timer, I felt completely taken care of, and their recommendations hit the mark. It’s the kind of genuine hospitality that makes you want to come back. Food: Let’s talk food this is where Bé Ù truly shines. Their menu feels like a love letter to Vietnamese street food, with just enough of an LA flair to make it interesting. The Braised & Caramelized Pork is an absolute must-try tender, flavorful, and ridiculously satisfying. The Banh Mi delivers that perfect crunch and balance of flavors, while the Spring Rolls are a fresh, vibrant bite paired with a peanut sauce you’ll want to lick clean. For drinks, don’t skip the Rau Ma. This pennywort juice is light, refreshing, and feels like a nod to their roots. It’s not a drink you find everywhere, but here, it just fits. Ambiance: The setup is simple but charming. Their cozy patio, strung with colorful lights, feels like the kind of place you’d stumble upon in Vietnam a casual, relaxed vibe perfect for enjoying great food with friends or solo. Bé Ù isn’t just a restaurant it’s an experience. Whether you’re here for the food, the vibe, or the community spirit, this little spot delivers. Skip the cookie-cutter franchise Vietnamese food and treat yourself to something real. Bé Ù is a place you’ll want to return to, not just for the flavors but for the feeling it leaves you with: full, happy, and genuinely cared for. ✨ Bonus: Giving Back to the Community On top of serving incredible food, Bé Ù is currently supporting LA wildfire victims and first responders by providing free meals. This act of kindness makes me want to support them even more. More people need to know about this place, so spread the word! Go ahead, make the trip. You won’t regret it.!

Absolutely delicious food!!! I hardly write reviews, but the food at this place is exceptional! I ordered the rice noodle plate with braised pork and the popcorn chicken, and both were delicious! There was so much chicken in the box I couldn’t eat it all! I’m hoping the air fryer can revive it without charring or overcooking it, but we’ll see. It’s only been a few days, but I was back for more this evening. I opted for a rice plate with the braised pork this time and think that’s what I’ll stick with moving forward. I also tried the summer rolls with chicken, and they were tasty and super fresh as well, not the most beautifully wrapped but at $12 for two huge rolls, who’s complaining? Friendly, quick service, not much for atmosphere but it’s a takeout joint - it does the job! It’s super close to my place, so I’ll definitely be a regular as long as the standards and flavors remain high! Yum!!!

I had been hearing a lot of good things about the food here so I finally made my way into Silverlake to check it out. As you are probably already aware, this is a take out or delivery restaurant. You cannot dine in here. You actually can't even enter the building. The front door is a two piece door and when they are open for business, the top part of the door will be open. You order from there and then wait on the sidewalk for your order to be ready. You can also call in an order in advance or use various delivery services. There was not anyone waiting to order when I got there so I was able to walk directly up to the door and immediately order. I had to wait approximately 10 minutes for my order to be prepared and in those 10 minutes they got very busy. Six people came up to pickup phone or delivery orders during that time and those pickups went very quickly. A line began to form to order during that time and when I left with my order there were 5 other people who had placed others and were now waiting for their orders to be prepared and an additional 7 other people waiting in line to place orders. They prepare their food quickly but keep in mind, they need to cook the food after you place your order. If there is already a line to place your order and people waiting for their food to finish cooking, all of that will add to the amount of time it will take before your order has been prepared. If you are in a hurry and need your order quickly, perhaps you should consider another restaurant such as a fast food restaurant. They do prepare the food as quickly as they can but keep in mind, you will wait approximately 5 to 10 minutes at a minimum and the more people you see standing around out front will add to that wait time. Is it worth the wait? Oh yes, it is worth it. I had the popcorn chicken, Summer Rolls and the Caramelized Pork. The Popcorn chicken and its dipping sauce was a real treat for the taste buds. The chicken is double fried but is not dry on the inside and the dipping sauce has the perfect bite of spices to it. The summer rolls are huge. Your choice of protein or vegetables only. They really could be a meal within themselves and the vegetables were very fresh with lots of vegetable crunch in every bite. The Caramelized Pork came with sticky rice and cooked with hard boiled eggs. It was as good as it sounds (which is very good). The portion sizes were very good with my order easily being enough for two people with some leftovers. Truly, the summer rolls are so large that you cannot help but have leftovers. Parking can be very tricky here. There are yellow painted loading zones in front of the restaurant and the mom & pop grocery store next door so if you are just picking up an order that had already been placed, you shouldn't have a problem. You may find yourself desperately looking for a place to park though. Keep that in mind but don't let that scare you off. You will be thankful for the effort you put in when you are finally home and enjoying the fruits of your troubles. BTW, I hear that their Bahn Mi sandwiches are so good. I look forward to trying...

Evacuated from Altadena due to the Eaton Fire, my family found ourselves in the wonderful land of Silverlake. My online reconnaissance for vegan grub had Bé Ù popping up everywhere. Tired and hungry as hell, I called in an order for anything vegan that sounded good on the menu. And woooh, boy. I have nothing but praise.

From the front, it's a kitchen with an open Dutch door. That's it. There is no indoor seating and you don't go in at all, but I think theres a patio in the back. And the number of people milling about that open door tells you that Bé Ù is doing big things. We tackled the Tofu Banh Mi, Mango/Cucumber/Mint Salad, Bap Nuong (grilled street corn), and the Summer Rolls, and every damn thing had us wide-eyed mumbling "mmmmmm.." through big bites. Incredibly satisfying, both on a flavor level and filling, and each dish was completely doing its own thing.

Not only was the food incredible, but Bé Ù is run by some pretty terrific human beings. They had a big sign up in the window that said free meals for evacuees and first responders. When they heard we were stranded because of the fires, they said to hit them up next time for a meal on them. We did, and they hooked us up with the three things we asked for, plus they tossed in some fried Jalapeño Salt &Pepper Oyster Mushrooms on top of it, which were SO DAMN GOOD.

All in all, we tried six vegan options, and I'd order every single one again and again. The grilled street corn was rolled around in a vegan aioli, peanuts, and fried shallots. Serious comfort food. Vietnamese elote, basically. Or is elote basically just Mexican Bap Nuong? Deep thoughts.. The Mango/Cucumber/Mint salad was so much more than it sounded thanks to the sour and spicy dressing. The banh mi and tofu rice noodle plates were exactly what they sounded like and executed on point. Summer rolls, give me those every day, and those fried mushrooms.. ohhhh the mushrooms... Across the board, the ingredients were fresh and vibrant, cooked perfectly, and the balance of everything was dead on.

I don't know when we'll be back in Silverlake, but I promise one thing. When we are driving through, or even remotely close, a stop at Bé Ù is here by declared to be on that future agenda. And I can't thank their crew enough for looking out for the community. It's spots like this one that really live and breathe the meaning of the hospitality industry. And it sure as hell doesn't hurt that their food is...
