I WISH I could leave a 0/5 star review. I'm in the property industry and wouldn't expect this in a major city ANYWHERE.
I've never felt this way though there is a first time for everything. When we hold people accountable to their wrong doings, they should do better next time. I'm on month 5 of waiting for my refund.
Never stay here, save yourself from the 1st world agony. I was in and out of LA for a few months looking for a property to purchase in Fall of 2018. My last stay in LA was in August 2018. The Air bnb I was renting for the past 3 months had no available reservations so I made a last minute booking through EXPEDIA with Hotel Silverlake. Definitely the worst decision of 2018. Never stay here. I will say this countless of times.
The hotel itself is in decent condition from the exterior. The bedding left me itchy. The staff are rude and condescending. Making comments under their breath.
The power went out at the hotel and I had to find another since it was mid summer and really hot. I had 3 meetings the next day and needed a good nights sleep. The man handling the front desk was the only person who treated everyone (what I witnessed) with patience and respect. He was about 200 lbs with dark hair. I want to thank him. He promised me a full refund for the inconvenience. If only that followed suit in to the next day.
The only hotel that was available was WAY more expensive. I had to do it, no other options.
NOW, back to HTSL. . .
Rashmi told Expedia to have me come in for a cash refund.then she changed the refund to only one day She did this twice. I was fine with 1 day refund until November. Acting like she was being cordial and providing a refund. The first time I got their for a refund was in Sept of 2018. Rashmi screamed at me saying why am I trying to rip her hotel off. She's hard working. I said "I'm not trying to rip anyone off, I just want a refund since the power went out" and wasn't scheduled to come back on until 08/10/2018. that's when she screamed at me to get off of her property before she calls the police. The power outage was planned from the city and the Hotel manager , Rashmi, received notice 3 months prior that the power was going to be out. She stayed open knowing this just to make revenue.
Just because I'm a athletic black man who looks intimidating, doesn't give you the right to call the cops on me. I'm a respectable young man who's educated and picks his battles WISELY. She chose the wrong person to try and belittle over a 2 night hotel stay.
I have yet to receive a refund for the horrible stay. I wish Rashmi the best in...
Read moreI spent 6 nights at this hotel. The building is older and rather odd. It could use some paint and the sidewalks could use pressure washing. My room was on the 4th floor which isn't accessible by elevator, you have to get off on the 3rd floor and then go up a short flight of stairs. It was private and quiet. The room was ok. The carpet was rather worn and coming up in some places. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were terrible. I was glad I brought my own pillow.
I did find it very frustrating that every single day I had to go to the front desk to ask for towels. They would only leave me two towels with no bath mat. When I asked the maid for extras she refused and said I had to get extra towels from the front desk. I asked the desk clerk to just have them leave me extra towels and he said it was hotel policy to only give two and then he appeared to write my name down in a little book he kept at the desk. He said they're afraid of the towels being stolen. I pointed out that he had my credit card on file, but he refused to budge on the issue. I would point out that the towels were old and had the consistency of sandpaper. Why anyone would steal them is beyond me.
However, they may truly be having problems with theft. One day when I returned to my room I found a police car in front of the hotel and when I entered the lobby they were hauling someone out in handcuffs dressed in what appeared to be nothing more than a pair of underpants. I have no idea what was going on.
One additional frustration was the lack of hot water pressure. There seemed to be a problem getting the shower to deliver hot water such that whenever I would try to get the shower to deliver more than luke warm water, the pressure would die. Maybe it was something I was doing wrong, but I never could figure it out and neither...
Read moreI am an Account Manager. I was recently on a company sponsored trip to Los Angeles and my company had booked Quality Inn & Suites By Convention Center (250 Silver Lake Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90004) for my 2 day stay. I checked in on the night of 07/27/15 and I woke up to multiple bed bug bites on 07/29/15 morning . I took photos, made a video and even caught a bed bug under the sheets. I complained to my district management and to the hotel reception. The front desk employee told me that the general manager and the owner were both not available for a week. On top of that the hotel charged me 2 days of stay saying its policy.
I moved hotels and could not sleep properly because of the psychological effect of getting bit again. I had to throw away all my belongings including all my expensive clothes and suitcase, since I didn’t want to carry the infestation to my house and family. I had to get my car thoroughly steamed and shampooed. I walk around feeling there is a bug crawling on my body and sleeping has become another story.
No apologies, no accountability and no concern at all.
I want to to bring this issue and my personal experience in the eyes of the general public. These hotels need to be held accountable for their actions. I’ve been trying to call the corporate office of Choice Hotels and keep getting bounced to customer relations and be on hold for an hour with no response and getting hung up on. They even bounced back my email I had sent. This is a $724 million revenue generating business and there is no one to listen to my complaint...
