Temescal Gateway Park is another great hiking trail in the Pacific Palisades. Parking was $12.oo for the day pass. The first quarter of a mile was relatively flat which was nice as a warm up for the incline ahead. Also near the start of the trail are picnic areas and historical information detailing some fun facts about the trail area. There was a children's birthday party being held around this area as its a great place for entertaining. There are a couple of fun things to see towards the end of the trail which I did not include photos of. I wanted to leave some mystery although it will probably pop up on other reviews. One being a waterfall about 1.3 miles from the trailhead and a skull rock about 2.1 miles from the trailhead. You may also see scrub jays flying around. They look like blue cardinals. There are magnificent views at the top of this hike that include the Santa Monica coastline. Bring plenty of water. Dogs allowed but need to be leashed. ...
Read moreCasual single track hike with ocean views. This is a family friendly hike and right off the PCH. We took a loop by heading up from Temescal Ridge Trail and came down the Temescal Canyon Trail. The trail is mostly exposed so be sure to wear sunblock and bring enough water! There is some shade, but not a ton. The views are really pretty, as you can see the vast expanse of blue ocean as well as the skylines of Century City and DTLA. There is a small “waterfall” that’s more like a brook, but there were some families eating lunch there. There are signs saying that dogs aren’t allowed but we saw people flouting that. It’s open during covid and I’m glad to see that most people wore masks.
It’s $12 to park and you can pay via credit card. Otherwise, you can try to find street parking on Temescal Canyon Rd (but be sure to read the street signs! Parking tickets in Malibu are not cheap). The park is also a good spot to throw a frisbee or take a...
Read moreNot too popular and a great place to escape the constant traffic and fast paced aggravated mentality of LA. The ticketed stop signs are great, it's laughable that there's more than one person here complaining about being held accountable for running stop signs, just fully stop your car at the stop sign !! dog people - I would like to mention there's only one trail that dogs are allowed on (regardless of whether theyre on leashes or not!) + It wasn't a nice trek in terms of sights/vegetation. The other trails seem very nice, though thats just from looking at them from ground level. I've never been on them as I've not been allowed with my dog. Also, every time I've been (about 5 times now) my pup has come home with ticks on his face and ears, and thats simply from walking around the base campsite area without even attempting to go on any trails. Overall, I would say this is a nice park but it's not super...
