This is specific to the concert I just saw at the Shrine Expo Hall (the adjacent theater is a completely different venue under the same roof- many of you might not realize that) Here goes...I don't want to say many bad things about this venue because I have been to many a concert experiences here that I have loved despite its drawbacks (if you don't like general admission concerts or you expect a luxury box option, this isn't the place for you) and despite the easy comparisons to new, modern venues where it falls short (which I already mentioned). So for a true historic, traditional great time out, see a general admission concert at the Shrine Expo Hall. It is decently maintained (better in recent years) and the staff is very friendly including the security staff outside the venue that does a really good job of being friendly while enforcing their entry policies properly. Inside security staff are also very friendly and respectful too. They don't feel like concert gestapo at all! Thank you! Their concessions staff is very polite and all work very hard at making the drinks quickly and moving the line rapidly also. The venue is rich in historic significance and you can see that before the lights go down by exploring the awesome exterior Moroccan themed turrets and archways and the detail that went into everything before you go in. More of the same with the interior. The carpets and paint look new. The bathrooms are well maintained, and the light fixtures and details inside are beautiful (do yourself a favor and look around before you stare at the stage). Look up before the lights go down. The ceiling detail and the balcony wrapping around the expo hall U-shape on the 2nd floor has some truly incredible detail work and carving inlays. Yes, it's cavernous, but you don't have to squish your way to the front to have a great experience. The sight lines everywhere are great, the sound is very good (well, it gets a bit heavy on the bass the further back you go), and even at full capacity, you can find room to move. Easy exiting too as they open up a huge bank of exit doors that lead directly out to the street. Easily accessible via public transit from the west side or downtown via the Expo Line, exit the USC/Jefferson station. It's $3.50 round trip versus the $20 - $30 charge to park nearby at some of the adjacent USC structures (plus your gas expense). And probably takes you less time on Light Rail to get there. Now that USC University Village is open about a block away at Jefferson and Hoover you are also within safe walking distance of some great, affordable, casual places to grab a meal and a drink before heading in. BIG LITTLE KNOWN BONUS: Their on site box office is open every Thursday from 12pm to 5pm where you can buy tickets with NO FEES in person for upcoming available...
Read moreI had a really frustrating experience with this venue. I can’t be in GA due to a connective tissue medical condition, so I reached out to the venue many weeks prior. Every time I called and selected the ADA option, it said the voicemail box was full. My email to them went unanswered until close to the day of the show. I’m used to requesting this assistance at venues and have never had such a challenging time contacting a venue.
I finally get to the venue, and am brought to the “ADA section” filled with around 50 people, most without the ADA designated bracelet on. Usually I am brought to a specific seat reserved for me, but I was brought to a section of metal folding chairs filled by random people, despite the ADA sign on the section. I usually am the only ADA person or maybe one other, so it seemed odd that so many people were able to be there for accommodations, all without bracelets. No one was monitoring the section, so anyone could sit there. From those chairs, you were completely blocked by the balcony wall and couldn’t see a thing anyway.
I can’t stand for long periods of time and asked for a chair, as the ADA email from the venue told me to do. The staff seemed confused and frazzled and said “they were working on finding chairs” which they never did. Why didn’t they have the proper amount of chairs for the list of ADA people? I stood in pain the whole night and took breaks to sit on the floor. No other venue in 2025 operates this way.
On top of that, the sound at the venue was terrible. Jessie Murph talked throughout the night into the microphone but it just sounded like echoey muffled noise.
I was excited to check out this venue, as I go to a lot of concerts. It was a disappointing and frustrating night. I am bed bound today to recover from it. ...
Read moreYou must be kidding me.
I bought this ticket to come to see L’imperrice. The ticket was changed from Nov last year to Now.
Finally I thought I would see L’impetrance’s performance.
Then started from 8:45 entering in, then till 9:00pm, it started then. However, it was still not L’impetrice. A hip hoop instead, lasting for more than 40mins.
I am like what?????? You must be kidding me. I am not here for hip pop.
There was no any notification or guidance to know the schedule.
Standing here for a hip pop instead.
Super disappointed!!! Will not come here for any event.
The ticket was $179 or more. I don’t think it is worth it.
If unfortunately you must come here, think some questions like:
If you want to stand in the first row, come as early as possible.
How do you go to restroom before you really see your desired band since some other artists will perform first? And how will you squeeze back in the crowd.
Time planing. After some warm up for more than 40 mins, then another setup will take 20 mins or so. If you work tomorrow, then plan wisely.
Think if the ticket is really worth it.
Ok. I was going to give 1 star for the crap beginning. But L’impetrice is an awesome band, I take back the words that I said the ticket is not worth it. Today I finally know I am not the only one who likes this band, and worships their talent. It was a great performance! These really talented artists should be seen!!! And thank for their music. It was so much fun.
We need more great french artists such as Vendredi sur Mer, Ichon, Vanille, Emma Peters, Lewis Ofman… come to L.A.
I am soooo satisfied with the price I paid.
Just I still hate that the opening show was too long, and I hold my pee during the...
