This is specific to the concert I just saw at the Shrine Expo Hall (the adjacent theater is a completely different venue under the same roof- many of you might not realize that) Here goes...I don't want to say many bad things about this venue because I have been to many a concert experiences here that I have loved despite its drawbacks (if you don't like general admission concerts or you expect a luxury box option, this isn't the place for you) and despite the easy comparisons to new, modern venues where it falls short (which I already mentioned). So for a true historic, traditional great time out, see a general admission concert at the Shrine Expo Hall. It is decently maintained (better in recent years) and the staff is very friendly including the security staff outside the venue that does a really good job of being friendly while enforcing their entry policies properly. Inside security staff are also very friendly and respectful too. They don't feel like concert gestapo at all! Thank you! Their concessions staff is very polite and all work very hard at making the drinks quickly and moving the line rapidly also. The venue is rich in historic significance and you can see that before the lights go down by exploring the awesome exterior Moroccan themed turrets and archways and the detail that went into everything before you go in. More of the same with the interior. The carpets and paint look new. The bathrooms are well maintained, and the light fixtures and details inside are beautiful (do yourself a favor and look around before you stare at the stage). Look up before the lights go down. The ceiling detail and the balcony wrapping around the expo hall U-shape on the 2nd floor has some truly incredible detail work and carving inlays. Yes, it's cavernous, but you don't have to squish your way to the front to have a great experience. The sight lines everywhere are great, the sound is very good (well, it gets a bit heavy on the bass the further back you go), and even at full capacity, you can find room to move. Easy exiting too as they open up a huge bank of exit doors that lead directly out to the street. Easily accessible via public transit from the west side or downtown via the Expo Line, exit the USC/Jefferson station. It's $3.50 round trip versus the $20 - $30 charge to park nearby at some of the adjacent USC structures (plus your gas expense). And probably takes you less time on Light Rail to get there. Now that USC University Village is open about a block away at Jefferson and Hoover you are also within safe walking distance of some great, affordable, casual places to grab a meal and a drink before heading in. BIG LITTLE KNOWN BONUS: Their on site box office is open every Thursday from 12pm to 5pm where you can buy tickets with NO FEES in person for upcoming available shows. Have fun!

This place is perfect for concerts I like this venue its a lot bigger than the Wiltern but it has the same qualities that I look for, its got the nostalgic look and it has balconies like you see in opera houses or old movies and looks great. The seats are comfortable and plenty of them on the second row as well as the top, and they have this section off VIP area that if you sit next to it on the far left or right can come in handy to sit your drinks on with the wall rail that separates your seat something to keep in mind. The pit area is about maybe 200 to 250 people max i would estimate but depending on who's playing they can adjust it less so another thing to keep in mind because that area could sell out quick. Parking was easy right next to it so come early to get a good space and avoid the crowds, especially because your in USC town so you will deal with that traffic around the venue, but you got 4 areas to park you can park on the street but good luck finding a spot again this is USC town. The bathrooms are a bit confusing at first because you go to either the left or right side once you walk in and there's a staircase going downstairs and that's the bathroom located, not sure if there's any upstairs the second floor. Before you get to the staircase for the bathroom right in front you'll have the snacks and drinks for your consumption this was on the left side of the venue I don't know if the same thing is on the right.

Like most concert venues in L.A., the parking was very expensive at $20 a car, right across the street from the Shrine. A beer cost $12 which also was typically expensive of L.A. venues. What we really had a problem with was the moving building. We went to see Two Door Cinema Club and as soon as everybody started jumping up and down, the entire floor and building started moving. It was incredibly scary. We're assuming that the building is built to withstand that kind of shaking but regardless, I was worried it was going to collapse at any second and I know we weren't the only ones concerned. Several others left the concert while we exchanged worried glances with others. My husband left the concert out of fear & anxiety and although he watched most of it from the corridor, an overly enthusiastic usher got very close to his face to tell him to move from the corridor which additionally soured his experience there. Although he tried to explain to the usher, he wouldn't listen & was adamant that he move even though it was the last song of the concert, which we missed since the usher wouldn't let us stay there. In summary, we won't be returning to the shrine & we hope bands we love do not hold their concerts there in the future.

We visited from out of state for the Yung Bae concert, the venue was beautiful for sure! Once you walked in though there was a very noticeable temperate increase. No AC + hot lights = suffering. After Moeshop we sat down to try to cool ourselves were we proceeded to see someone throw up in the back of the auditorium, another pass out and security had to bring him water, a girl puking in the restroom, multiple people taking off their shirts (including one of the performers it was so hot), and the worst was a girl literally passed out fell to the floor on her way out of the venue. Another thing that some of the other reviews mentioned was that the bass was set really high. It didn’t make sense for all of the songs, but I actually enjoyed it for quite a few, my fiancé on the other hand started to feel sick from all that bass. All that said, we had a really good time! The prices on drinks weren’t horrible, and the performances were really good. Not sure what went wrong with this particular show, but I’m sure the staffs best feedback was all of the sick concert goers that they had to attend to, because it definitely seemed like the show cooled down towards the end.

Came to see Run The Jewels. Parking was $20 but I parked in one of the two structures right next to the venue. I showed up about 30 min before the show and got a spot no problem (show was sold out). The Shrine itself is fine. It's historical (although there aren't really many fancy architectural features that point that out) and right outside of USC. Security people were stationed around the Shrine and surrounding corners, both for the venue and the USC students. Bathrooms were clean. Bars located in the lobby and on either side of the floor. I got a combo with a man-sized shot and a 24oz beer for $18. Basically three drinks for the price. I can't give it 5 stars because it's a big General Admission hall and you have to deal with the typical nonsense of fools showing up at the last minute and pushing their way into the crowd in front of people that had been standing in their spot for an hour. Compared to other GA halls I'd say it's a good place to see a show.
