I've been to Woodley Park on several occasions over the years. The two biggest positives are the sheer size of this park, which is large, and access, which is really good. The park does have an old, dark and small public restroom and an area with lots of picnic tables. On the negative side is the fact that it lives right next to an active sewage treatment plant. When the winds are not favorable, be prepared for a nauseating stench. Next are the numerous holes. Most are smaller gopher holes, but some are collapsed gopher dens, and are a serious safety hazard. Walking or running in this park can easily leave you with a twisted, sprained or broken ankle. After several years, the problem remains unabated. Another one is the quality of the turf, which is extremely poor. What remains of any grass is laced with Burclover. This results in millions of tiny spiny Burclover seeds/thorns, which you can't sit on, lay on, play on or bring a pet onto. They're aggressive and harmful. And then, the dirt paths for vehicles are poorly graded and maintained. They're not covered with anything durable. No gravel, decomposed granite or anything. Just soil, which quickly becomes dusty or turns into mud when it rains. Last but not least is the poor condition of the trees. Some are completely dead. Others are dying and all of them need pruning/trimming. Many have branches hanging so low that you run into them...
Read moreWoodley Park intersects and blends in to the Sepulvada Nasin Reserve. It has many of the same strengths. Lots of open space. Plenty of picnic tables. Grills. Bathrooms. Tree cover. Unfortunately it also has the same drawback. Trash. Overflowing garbage cans. Litter here and there on the ground. In the parking lot. It's a wonderful place to take your dog. Play some football/soccer, toss a frisbee. It is sadly diminished somewhat by the lack of the parks department and the park guests themselves to maintain visual order by keeping the grounds in better condition. I'll post photos and videos of Woodley. I'll also include some Basin Reserve videos as well since they are linked by roads and...
