Incredible resource for those with an interest in the ancient art/martial art/sport of archery.

Beginner lessons with ALL EQUIPMENT PROVIDED FREE are held twice a week, Wed. at 6 pm and Sat at 9 am. They suggest arriving an hour early and the classes were at capacity (limit of 25, first come, first served) both times. U will be two hours early next Sat. Also league on Thursdays at 6 pm if you get the itch for competition. The park opens at 6 am and closea at 8. So you really can't use the range 24/7.

There is a semi covered 20 yd range and outdoor ranges are 10 m, 20 m 25 m, 30 m, 40 m, 50m, 60m, 80 m and 90 m.

Taking the beginner classes are recommended for novices. It's a sport, but like firearms the tools are/were weapons of war and hunting gear. They can and will KILL you or others if improperly handled.

That said, like at a gun range, the rules will keep all safe and the fun is there if you are willing to try with an open mind. Can be a super contemplative or a competitive sporting experience. I recommend this place and archery in general wholeheartedly. Gun shooters may take to it especially as there are lots...

The wildlife area is something else. A blind spot where you can expect to see the unexpected. There's a sign with graffiti over it says -No Dog Allowed -No Fishing -No feeding the animals..well there is dog walkers everywhere you look and birds feed themselves with with so much left over from picnics & parties and the fishing part..I don't understand why they allow it in Balboa Park which is across the street but not here. I tried fishing here and caught 7 in less than an hour. My son and I had a blast and couldn't stop laughing on how they were biting. It was a good day but still we shouldn't have had to feel as if we did a crime that day. Same fish same water as across the street so what's wrong with fishing there? Bathrooms are ok. Individually & private.O yeah..but there's these chipmunks who I swear one of them is Alviiiiiin! Kept...

Took the family to the Wednesday evening beginner class. Quite a few people there that day but kept hearing that it’s better than Saturday. Staff and volunteers were knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Also patient with our teenage daughters. No cost on Saturday or Wednesday introductory beginner course.

It was August so it was hot but there is plenty of parking, a restroom facility nearby, and ice cream man came around frequently with snacks and drinks. Recommend that you wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water.

The only complaint t that I had is the range is looking tired. Instructor said it was built as a practice range for the 1984 Olympics. 35 years is a long run and facility showing its age but for the cost and quality of instruction, you can’t beat it for a night out...

From several months ago: Have gone a few times now. Love that I can shoot arrows and throw sharp things here. First visit I broke our ax, whoops. Successfully practicing my archery and knife throwing skills. Hope to keep coming back, always a good time. Be mindful that it gets quite hot here since it’s up in the valley. Bring hats and sunscreen, lots of water or fluids for hydration. Or plan to come earlier or later in the day to avoid the midday heat. Community is very mindful about making sure the range is clear before anyone retrieves arrows and then back safely behind the shooting line before lifting bows again. Pretty quiet on this Friday morning visit.

I have really never been a fan of So Cal or LA area. I know there are some beautiful places here and I have experienced many of them. However, I am continually amazed at how much trash is laying around in "green spaces". I hate trash and they way it destroys our outdoor spaces. This park is basically a landfill with trails. The few nature pics I got were cropped carefully. This place seems safe enough and family friendly but smelled like sewage and looked like a 3rd world country.

Archery range is nice and they keep it super safe. Beginners to long range they have it all. Instructors are great and know their stuff and Andy is great on advice as well as the only person within at least a 50 + mile radius that does any type of work on recurve bows AND crossbows which is a major, major help . There are a lot of things at this park for the entire family and really kid friendly. B.b.q. birthday partys. Lake, birdwatching, soccer ⚽️, or
