I've been picking up take out from here for many years. Maybe 10! Their prices are up AGAIN ! Everything is up another dollar from 5 months ago! And that is on top of everything up $3+ in the last couple of years. It's ridiculous.
And on top of that they added SHRINKFLATION to my order today -- smaller portions on Chicken Kabob, Hummus and Tahini ... even on Rice. RICE ???!
Most the food quality was consistent, BUT the Lule Kebob seemed a less quality ground beef. It was not tasty this time.
They seem to be taking advantage, and using 'inflation,' which is actually now ONE-THIRD of what it was a year ago. We're not idiots. We know our grocery store prices have come back down. Despite this they increased their prices again, vs. reversing their prices. And they need to go back to giving the nice sized portions they used to.
I'll rarely be getting take out here, if at all, but rather will be spending my hard earned dollars at other places that aren't using a past-inflation excuse to continue to gouge, as the economy has improved.
I understand I'm not the only one to let Zankou know of this dissatisfaction. The question is will the management and owners realize that for every customer who takes the time to speak out in person, or by phone, or takes the time to write a social media review, there are dozens more who don't make the effort.
Los Angeles is littered with restaurant 'institutions,' that existed for decades, that no longer exist. We have...
Read moreI don't frequent Zankou Chicken often, but this experience might change that. I was absolutely thrilled with my visit. Many fast food restaurants overlook the importance of customer service, assuming the franchise name alone will bring in business. Not true! Let me start by highlighting the exceptional service provided by Luis, who assisted us. He greeted us with professionalism and enthusiasm. When I placed my order, he asked specific questions like, "Would you like your chicken cut into 2, 4, 6, or 8 pieces?" This was a pleasant surprise, as I had never been asked this before, and it made perfect sense to do so. It's not like I'm going to eat the whole chicken myself! During a previous visit, the person who helped me didn't come close to the level of service Luis provided. After we finished eating, I needed a take-home container, and Luis promptly provided one. He even offered aluminum foil for wrapping the pita bread, without me asking. His attentiveness made me feel like we had a personal waiter. Eating out can be expensive these days, but it feels worthwhile when both the food and service exceed expectations. Spending $45 hurts less when the experience is outstanding. Thank you, Luis, for making our visit great, and thank you to the Zankou Chefs for the delicious food. I will...
Read moreThis is a great spot for all walks of life. The flavor is something extraordinary. Get that garlic sauce for sure.
Healthy eater, somebody who wants something mediterranean, after a bicycle ride, tourist traveling through town, it's a local favorite.
There is street parking available, or parking in the shared lot just north of Zankou's front door. You'll see the driveway.
Anything you order here is good in my honest opinion. The rice, the hummus, the falafel, the shawarma, lamb, chicken, beef, Etc. That pink, pickled root is also a nice Tangy contrast to the savory meats.
Speaking of savory, the meat is always flavored on point. Just the right amount of salt, just the right amount of heat or pepper. You can always make it spicier by adding the little small peppercinis. This place has been around since at least the '90s, if not earlier. The other one that I like going to is on Sepulveda near Santa monica.
I still give this place five stars because of the quality of the meal for what you pay. But I do wish that they would lower their prices $2 all around. Just like everything else, inflation is driving up the price.
If you're familiar with the West Side Fairfax & Venice area, this place is similar...
