I want to give a shout out to one of the Los Gatos See's Candies' employees, Jaime. I called to find out what they were closing on a Saturday night. Jaime radiated cheer over the phone, telling me they were open until 6 p.m. and he looked forward to seeing me soon. Already, that set me in a good mood. I raced down at 5:45 p.m. on a rainy Sat. night. There was a smiling Jaime behind the counter working alone. He had a demanding customer who wanted a custom box and kept changing her mind. He couldn't have been more patient. She took 15 minutes to choose her items. It was now past closing but Jaime's attitude remained positive. At the register, he told her the price $51.07 and she said had a $50 gift card and could he take out some candies to get to that amount. "Sure," he said. He took a few out, weighed the box, carefully getting to the price of $50.03. I kid you not, the customer balked at paying the three cents and asked if he could get it right to the 50 amount. Politely he said he couldn't. She huffed, and then payed. At no time did Jaime loose his cool. (I was losing it for him.) Next he helped me, again so nice and professional, offering me samples, etc. Wasn't trying to rush me out even though it was well past closing time. I noticed an award on the wall for Best Customer Service of 2022. I told Jaime I could tell he was a big reason why the store received that accolade. What a sweet soul. Thank you for being a stand out employee and going above and beyond to give amazing customer...

As part of a West Valley College Honor Club Org fundraiser, we ordered one nut toffee can of 16 ounces. I had to come out to meet the delivery driver for the package because it’s marked perishable. The packaging materials alone were 4 pounds of various types of materials some of which are not recyclable at most municipal recycling centers all Across the country and of course in San Jose and Santa Clara county : Soft & Multilayer plastics.
If you’re mailing a soft chocolate product, then sure I could understand it to a point, but you need to state that somebody is going to get 1 pound of product and 4 + pounds of packaging. … That’s not completely recyclable.
See’s as a product is not organic or Fair Trade, which means that it is absolutely one of the chocolate makers that knows the long standing problems in the industry:
So if you eat chocolate then mind that it contains the highest amount of lead, cadmium, and other toxic, heavy metals of any Processed food, is highly dependent upon child/other problems for labor in West African and other major global suppliers, and as a crop is literally on the CO2 / unsustainable level as some birds...
