Louisville Solo Trip: Playing Gold Miner in Kentucky ⛏️

Nice park with plenty of parking working water fountain just in case you need it. Another nice thing is electric outlets in the parking area; not sure why, but that could come in handy. You will learn history about how they used to pump water for urban use, and how they do it today. You will also learn some pearls about water filtration and just how many people live and rely on the Ohio River. This is a peaceful place to stop, even if the museum isn't open.

Historic water tower dating back to 1850s. Restored and opened as water museum. Authentically detailed restoration, historic landmark. See and learn how safe drinking water initiatives made Louisville a pioneer in public health since 1850.

This museum is small and is mostly for those who are old enough to read very well. My kids 7,4 and 1 obviously did not enjoy this as much because there is not a lot to do for their level of learning. My 9 year old could read and understand and found some things interesting. The tour guide was great, very friendly and interesting, however this was definitely not something for all ages. The teens and adults seemed to enjoy the tour in my group and I learned a lot as well but the info seemed to be over the heads of my group. The tour takes you to several different locations on the property and is about 30-40 minutes long, which is great, just meant for students...

The Louisville Water Tower, located east of downtown Louisville, Kentucky near the riverfront, is the oldest ornamental water tower in the world, having been built before the more famous Chicago Water Tower.[2] Both the actual water tower and its pumping station are a designated National Historic Landmark for their architecture. As with the Fairmount Water Works of Philadelphia (designed 1812, built 1819–22), the industrial nature of its pumping station was disguised in the form of a Roman temple complex. Built 1860 Architect Scowden, Theodore R. Architectural...
