Our visit to Old Louisville Whiskey Co was the highlight of my groups visit on May 3rd, 2024. I traveled with a group of guys from Texas to Kentucky to partake in the Derby festivities. We visited several other of the larger distilleries in the greater Louisville area, but none of them matched the experience, owner, Amine Karaoud provided to our small group of five. His passion for whiskey and his pride in the product he is producing was amazing. All six whiskies that were sampled during this tour were hand drawn directly from the barrel in which it was aged in, this was not see in any of the other tours we experienced. It added to the over all experience and provided a true unfiltered sample of the whiskey. Then at the completion of the tour you are permitted to purchase any of the six whiskies you sampled during the tour, this is not unlike any other tour. However, once again the bottle of your favorite spirit is hand filled from the barrel that it was aged in. The bottle is then hand labeled, sealed, and personalized by Amine or one of the OLWC representative.
Our group purchased eleven bottles of whiskey at the completion of the tour. Since returning to Texas I have personally purchased seven additional bottles. Again, Amine’s customer service skills have been amazing, since Old Louisville Whiskey is NOT directly available for purchase in Texas yet (Hopefully 2025). Amine has been able to guide me to online distributors he is currently working with to facilitate the purchase of this fantastic barrel nectar.
So if you’re in the Louisville area, and you enjoy a fantastic Kentucky whiskey, stop by and see Amine, Beth, and the boys at OLD Louisville Whiskey Co.

Read moreOld Louisville’s barrel thieving experience was off the beaten path and awesome! Comes with the option to bottle your own straight from your favorite barrel. Don’t let the size of the shop or location steer you away. Amine was an awesome host, and it’s incredible to see that he’s managing the process from sourcing to aging to bottling to distributing on his own, in addition to the tours (i.e., no other employees).
As for the product - super easy to drink and can easily appeal to the mass market AND whiskey enthusiasts alike. He uses a low barrel entry proof, so even thieving straight from the barrel provides an easy to drink spirit (and also whiskies finished in barrels like maple syrup, brandies, etc. If that’s more your speed). Sweet oakiness was present across all the different mash bills, ages, and types of wood used to age. As for those who are tired of sourced whiskies, he does have one key differentiator in that he refuses to sell anything under 7 years old.
Compared to other barrel thieving experiences, this one is fairly priced and one of the most informative ones I’ve done - hearing some of his story, Amine is clearly a bourbon enthusiast at heart and also came with an engineering background. Ask lots...
Read moreAt the suggestion of a trusted bourbon aficionado- I visited the Old Louisville Whisky Company today. Although the distillery wasn’t open for tours when I stopped by, it did not stop them from generously opening the doors of the gift shop to me and welcoming me in…and WOW! am I glad they did. If you would like a tour- call ahead and Adam or Brad will be glad to take you on a comprehensive tour.
This small distillery is a true powerhouse. They are producing some of the best there is in the business today. I was able to sample directly from the barrel I was purchasing from- guaranteeing I was getting exactly what I wanted. Classic bourbon, rye forward, rye, and specialty barrels- they have everything for the connoisseur.
These guys know what they are doing! While the big guys are pushing out massive quantities- these fine gentlemen are providing high quality sipping bourbon…meant to be enjoyed neat- just the way I like it. I took home two bottle to enjoy- and purchased a t-shirt to advertise! When my bff comes to town next month, I’ll be back for more.
Good place. Good people. Great bourbon. Mark this place high on your list to stop by on your Bourbon Trail...
