Full disclosure: we called the Stoogeum about 5 days before our visit to schedule an individual tour for a Tuesday afternoon. The Thursday hours just weren't working out for us, and, as huge Stooges fans, we had been trying to visit for years. The staff was very accommodating and gave us a variety of 2 hour time slots. We visited from 2-4 pm. Besides the staff, we were the only visitors at that time.
We came to the Stoogeum with 3 adults and 5 children, aged between 10 & 2. There are three FULL floors of memorabilia, interactive games, artwork, movie posters, personal effects, and even a theater which runs Stooge shorts non stop. Most of the games are free to play and have step stools for small children to reach.
Photography of any kind is expressly forbidden, so I can't post any pictures. Admission is extremely reasonable at $10/adult and kids under 12 free. We threw them some donations as well. Considering that they opened the museum just for us, it was the least we could do. The staff was amazing and accommodating, answering questions when needed and leaving us alone when needed. They didn't seem to mind my rambunctious children, who were excited by the games and the toy room. In fact, the staff even expressed how happy they were to have children as guests!
The gift shop is really more of a "gift closet," featuring items of varying price points, from very reasonable to ridiculous. You view your selections through a glass case, and then a staff member gives you your picks from an actual closet. The selection is interesting. The only thing I would have loved to have that wasn't offered is a photo op, since photography is forbidden. Being able to purchase a photograph would be awesome to commemorate the visit.
I would have loved to have more time at the Stoogeum, since the collection is quite extensive. It's a wonderful place, a must-see for anyone even remotely interested in the Three Stooges. We plan to...
Read moreread about this place online for several months, went on 10-6-12, and was met by an actor playing moe howard, was shown the door and inside was the largest most complete selection of 3 stooges stuff that i have ever seen, unreal, video games, slot machines, interactive displays, movie theatre, and a small gift shop. it's free to go, but they do appreciate donations to help maintain the building, the only problem is that for a person in a wheelchair and the crowds of people ( only open 1 day a month ) the displays get very crowded with only a dozen people in there that is can be a bit of a trouble navigating the narrow rows you must go through, otherwise for any 3 stooges fan this is the spot, nothing any better anywhere near here, so it's a must see, for young...
Read moreI'm a huge fan for the 3 Stooges. I really can't give a review because I haven't been there. Why? Because the museum is only open 'one day' Thursday 10 am to 3 pm. THIS SUCKS! Please have this museum open more days for the public!
I was finally able to go to the museum later after the original posting. It is a great museum and I've recommended it to my friends to attend. This is history in film people should enjoy and to keep the 3 Stooges legacy going.
So...
