Beach was nice and quiet, but a nice breeze on a hot day. And can't beat the view. I stopped there again today for a quiet lunch. Look for the Capitol in the background, behind my shawarma and falafel.

Grew up on that beach! My grandparents lived on lakeside..mother also grew up there. Know it like that back of my hand. Used to be real clean...you could catch clams and crayfish on the beach as well as bullheads/catfish. Lakeside street had a grorcery store(bernies) and drug store...liquor store. The park itself is okay, albeit a little small. The main issue is that the beach doesn't seem well cared for and the swimming area looks a little unkempt. If you just want a jungle gym and a bench to look out over the lake this is a good spot, but if you are after a swim I recommend finding...
