I first moved to Wisconsin and was so busy with work that I only had time and energy to "explore" the inside of a theater. When I walked into Marcus I was greeted by the pleasent smell of corn popped in bulk for hungry snackers. The atrium was clean and I began to print off my ticket and felt a twinge of nostalgia for the 90's - when Carson would give me the latest spring break drops and being cool was as simple as having a multidisc changer in my head unit.
That's when I discovered it, inside of a place where we go to escape to fantasy was another place we go to escape from our own emotional reality - the bar. Completely smitten with the idea of returning to a younger age, I ordered myself a shot of Jack and slammed it as though I am still trying to grow chest hair, rather than shaving back. The tender was friendly, but prices were a bit high, though for the experience it's understandable.
After a few more attempts to reclaim myself, I headed towards the cinema. The guy who took my ticket casually explained that my screen was to the right after I started walking left. Very friendly and nonjudgmental of my, influenced, mistake. I Jack Sparrow'd myself to my screen.
I made it to a seat, sat down, reclined and settled into the comfortabley cushioned recliner ready for all the action promised of pirates and swordplay. That's when I noticed a tap on my arm and a voice telling me, "excuse me, Sir, this is my boyfriend's seat". Not wanting to make a scene infront of the captive audience, I explained that I must be mistaken, but we aren't dating as I'd just moved here, but I was single. She pulled out her ticket stub and said that I was in the wrong, chair. I relocated a row away realizing my mistake and considering her missed opportunity at happiness with an obviously great guy, if a little sloshed right now.
The screen was clear, large and audio was well balanced. The whole experience was quite enjoyable and I return frequently for shows. I cannot recommend this theater enough even if prices are a bit steep...
Read moreReally disappointed with the interaction I had with the girl with the long curly hair working the front on 8/2 around 3:30pm
Unfortunately I left my phone behind and the kid who just finished cleaning the theater (aud 15) was so sweet and helped me look around. He advised me ask at the desk and talk to a manager.
So I’m talking to the guy at the desk explains that I lost my phone and gave him a the description of the phone and the case. The manager I’m guessing walks over where we’re talking and rudely says “can I help you with something?” I say yes I lost my phone it’s an I phone with a… she cuts my off and was like you need to give me the description of your phone. What model is it? Cause I’m not just handing an iPhone over to anyone.
I told her that if she wouldn’t have interrupted me I would have been able to finish telling her it’s a green case with a gold pop socket on the back. Instead of giving me my phone she proceeds to tell me no she needs to know the picture on the screensaver. At this point I’m fed up cause me and my 10 year old are the screensaver. None of this needed to happen cause you could clearly see it’s me and the kid I’m with. She finally hands me my phone back and when I’m leaving I muttered the b word under my breath. Because I mean honestly she was being one. And she proceeds to scream at my across the theater in front of a child. I was in the wrong for muttering the b word but really this whole thing coulda been avoided. The way she was acting with my phone on her hand made me feel as if she was trying to keep it for herself.
The man at the desk had just told me he gave her the phone when she came swooping over all defensively. I’m a manager myself. When someone loses a phone I say, “I’m sorry to hear the can you describe the phone to me” and then I...
Read moreHonestly, I'm taken aback by the experience I had last night. I had gotten so used to having bad movie theater food experiences at other theaters that I had completely called off getting theater food again. Last night however I was pretty hungry and a burger sounded good so I caved in and ordered one to share with my wife. We asked for it to be cut in half to make it easier to share. If they hadn't it really wouldn't have been a big deal we could have made it work anyway. But they went so far above and beyond. Not only did they cut it in half but they put it in two separate baskets and split the fries too. I know it sounds like I'm making a big deal out of such a small gesture. But 80% of the time when we ask for a sandwich to be cut in half, it just doesn't happen. To not only meet the request but exceed it in that moment made me a loyal customer.
Also I should mention the burger was straight fire. I've never had a movie theater burger that good before.
The last time I had one was at AMC Fitchburg. After ordering it, I watched them pull it out of the freezer and microwave it. It was the most disgusting burger I've seen and one of the worst things I put in my body to date. I ate it because I paid $20 for it and needless to say I didn't make it through the movie without getting sick.
Moral of the story is, you can trust the burgers at Marcus Point Cinema. In fact, I'd be happy with the burger even if I wasn't there to see a movie. That said, it is expensive. For movie theater food it's roughly standard price which makes it a good deal in that setting compared to literally any...
