Pelicar Professional Tinting, PPF and Wrap — Attraction in Malden

This is a tough one to write because my experience has been nothing but pleasant while I visited here. The operating staff here are extremely friendly and provide quality work.

I’ll start with saying that I know sometimes people slip through the cracks In high volume businesses and if you read between the lines on most of these reviews, You can see that’s exactly what has happened. My experiences with Pelicar are bit different. Not because of the quality of work. ( my Jeep speaks for itself) Unfortunately, because the owner who seems to be involved in some transactions had a bit of greed that shines through. It seems to be more important than keeping new customers.

I found out today that Pelicar does not appreciate customer loyalty. I’ve visited these guys 3 times.

August 2020 First time, was Awsome, I had some ideas on what I wanted to do to my 2020 Rubicon, I was greeted and handle with professionalism from the floor manager. He took my Jeep in and did some great work! Definitely earned my business. And I’ll say for scope of work I was charged accordingly.

Fall 2020 Second time, the initial time in was great. Brought my friend in with his Lincoln MKZ, we had chat with the floor manager and they set up an appointment to have his car done. It’s the aftermath that shows my complaint. After my friend had his fronts tinted, based what he was told at the time of installation. He chose a high end tint (Chrystal line) it came out great. What he wasn’t told is that in certain temperatures and due to it polarizing, it would change colors. Well anyone that knows this effect matched up with black tint from the factory, it looks terrible in those weather conditions. We returned 2 days later and he expressed his concerns and the floor manager was welcoming to taking the tint off and changing it to a standard 3m. ( no charge because of the price for the Chrystal line to begin with) It was the owner who chose to not allow it to happen. He wanted an extra $100 for the work. Kind of scummy considering the up sale initially. Held over a barrel my friend ended up paying the money to have his car look normal.

April 2021 Third time, today was the day to have a visit with our 2021 Durango R/T. I roll in at noon to chat with the floor manager about the ideas I have for the family car. We talk about the ideas and we are a go. He tells me let me grab some pricing. He comes back and tells me they are going good will a discount based on my friends mis hap and over paying. So? I reap the benefit of the owners greed in good faith? My friend deserved that! The pricing to start prior to said discount was double the price I had paid for my Jeep. So... I negotiate, and remind him of what I paid the first time around. Ok, I understand cost of goods, time, and the industry change in a short 8 months. I suggest a price that’s fair for the work that is almost 20% more than what I paid for the Rubicon. Mind you the scope of work is the same. A bit more in material (spray paint) and time (slightly different masking job). Owner says No! Worst part about this, as I left the business the owner made eye contact over our masks and let me leave. A real kick in the butt!

Plain and simple do NOT get any vinyl work done here. I came here to get my Audi S4 window trim and mirrors wrapped and drove 2 hours to come here because of the great reviews. I get home and check out the vinyl and there are areas of chrome still showing and tiny little strips of vinyl that were used to cover up those spots. One piece of vinyl should be used per spot and there was attempts to cover up areas rather than redo it. After one day of sun the vinyl was bubbling up and pulling away from both mirrors in the same spots due to overheating and overstretching the vinyl. So it looks great until the sun hits it and it shrinks back. No big deal I brought it back to get this fixed and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Now after getting it fixed it looks good then the sun comes out and boom bubbles all over. I send a nice message letting them know that I will not be driving another 2 hours to get this fixed because I have already made this trip 2 times. At the end of it all I am offered a 40 dollar refund after paying 150 for the service and paying 100 dollars in gas. They want me to come back and get it fixed but how many times should I need to get it fixed? Best part about it is that I was nothing but respectful and friendly with the staff and this is all I am offered for compensation? I am very active in the car community and was actually excited to let my friends know that this place did a great job with vinyl but this was the worst possible experience I have ever had and I believe my first review ever written. This place must do one hell of a job on window tinting to get all these good reviews. CHECK OVER ALL THE WORK BEFORE YOU DRIVE OFF THEIR LOT. I had razor blade scratches on my mirrors to top it off so dont bring your pricey cars here . They tell you what you want to hear and thats about it. I received a recommendation from a friend to go to Pelicar Professional Windows tint in Malden. The same day I went to the place. At the office the lady who attended me was very kind and professional with her information. She gave me several recommendations that I had to think a bit. My budget was a little lower than the price they charge. After thinking about it, I remembered that I was backed by the 3M brand so I decided to pay for tint ceramic IR. The best decision I made was to invest in it. At night it gives me more security and during the day it helps so that the interior feels cold despite the heat of the sun. The invoice and guarantee came to my email. Super recommended this place and all service staff was very friendly! Thanks a lot!

Me dio varias recomendaciones y tuve que pensar un poco. Mi presupuesto era un poco mas bajo del precio que cobran. Luego de pensarlo bien, recordé que estaba bajo el respaldo de la marca 3M entonces decidí pagar por tint ceramic IR. La mejor decisión que tomé fue invertir en eso. Por la noche me da más seguridad y durante el día ayuda para que el interior se sienta frío a pesar del calor. La factura y garantía llego a mi correo electrónico.
