Outstanding stop on highway for a short walk by the lake, a welcome by friendly staff, connecting with local/state of Arkansas resources, and enjpying a free cup of coffee. Excellent place to catch your breath/stretch your legs on a road trip, and admire beautiful scenery of Arkansas - the natural state. On-site is the local power site equipment and generator machinery from days gone by that visitors can tour and read about for free. We enjoyed sitting by the waterfall/dam and walking by the lake. We were delighted to see a turtle on its way to the lakeside. Peaceful and quiet, and just off the road which makes it a quick stop if that's what you need. There's a variety of concessions and fun items inside for sale. Also many signs about the history of the area, the natural spring on-site, and the old war cannon on display outside. On Saturday May 10th, it was some area appreciation/state park visitor celebration, so the staff was offering free hot dogs, burgers, snacks and drinks along with free raffles and giveaways, but we were unable to stay for this grand event, though the friendly staff welcomed us to join and invite anyone we knew. We'll make this gem a regular stop for our travels through...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a place where nature and history collide Mammoth Spring State Park is your spot! Imagine a spring so massive it could fill a million bathtubs an hour. The walking paths are like a treasure hunt, leading you to quirky artifacts like an old train depot and a cannon. It’s like stepping into a time machine, but without the risk of accidentally inventing disco. 🕺💃 The visitor center is a goldmine of fun facts and trivia. Did you know the spring flows at 9 million gallons per hour? That’s enough water to fill an Olympic swimming pool faster than you can say “synchronized swimming”! 🏊♂️🏊♀️ Picnic areas are top-notch, with tables so clean you could eat off them (but please use a plate, you savages). The playground is a kid’s dream come true, and the fishing spots are so good, even the fish are lining up to be caught. 🎣 In short, Mammoth Spring State Park is wrapped in natural beauty. Whether you’re a history buff, a nature lover, or just someone who enjoys a good picnic, this park has got...
Read moreThe staff here are extremely friendly and very helpful. The park is absolutely beautiful and full of opportunities to have multiple homeschooling lessons here. If you have younger children definitely a place to keep an eye on them as they don't have much protection from the waters to reserve the natural beauty of the springs. There are so many little beavers here just doing their own little thing and it was so fun to watch them. Don't forget to stop at the train depot around your walk on the trail! When you look up at the capitals they have trout and fringe and turtles and snakes and local wildlife native to mammoth springs carved into them. So breathtaking! They do have geese but definitely just leave them alone and let them do their own thing. They pretty much run the grounds 😂 they also have a fish hatchery near that we didn't get to check out this time but definitely plan on making another trip back up to visit and check it out and see the aquarium. They say they have an...
