For the price (under 60 bucks a night), this is not a Holiday Inn but it is clean and easy enough to get too and close to the river which is why we are up in that area of the state to begin with. I see some reviews that really trash this place but you have to remember that a lot of the frequent guests in this motel are there for the river and not there for a conference or business trip. Nothing fancy is needed. It has the basics, a clean bath, clean beds, cool air, doors that lock, a nice patio view from the second floor, clean towels, free parking, clean pool and a coffee pot. If you require more than that then head on up the street and pay over $100.00 a night for a room which is not much better but higher priced with no view. Well, the train is a whole different subject but I have never seen anything around the motel that indicated that the motel owners or operators had any control over the train, its schedule or the tracks. Yes, they are noisy and yes, they SQUEAK sometimes so loudly that it will wake you from a dead sleep. We have learned to turn on the AC and leave it on all night so it breaks the sound of the train and problem solved. Typically, we sit on the patio and watch them come through as it is a nice break from looking at the lake. We have stayed at this motel for at least 25 years almost every summer to float the river with a large group of friends. It is as some have put it, a mom and pop operation and I will continue to support them as long as I can with...
Read moreBeen coming here for yrs.from K.C. to trout fish and antique shop. Owners are the NICEST people! VERY accomodating/helpful. The whole town is so friendly, I wish I could move there-like a Mayberry! Top on my list when retiring.
It is a 'go to' place when I want to get away from everything and just slow down. People actually remember your name here, at local cafes (excellent home cooking), shops, etc. when you come back!
I have stayed at very nice resorts/hotels from Hawaii to NY, but never have I ever felt so relaxed, safe, welcome as coming back to the Riverview. Like coming home to a hometown where people are glad to see you again!
Did I mention the million dollar view of the river? Makes it easy to overlook the small things some people used to staying at the Hyatt might not like and complain about with any small rural hotel.
I have always found it to be clean, large room compared to new hotels, clean pool, quiet/no roudy or questionable guests, deck overlooking the river with coffee from the coffee maker, etc.
I did not even consider ever staying at the newer chain hotel when it was built! And, I think it is twice the price and no view, will hear more noise, no personal service like owners at Riverview, etc.
I am dreaming right now of waking up there, going out on my room deck with my coffee to watch the early morning steam rising off the beautiful blue colored Spring river and watching a dedicated local fly fisherman fishing skills, watch the herons fly and fish, etc.!...
Read moreI wish I could give it a negative. $70 for this. The toilet leaked in the floor. Puddle was there when we checked in. When we check into any lodging, my husband automatically lifts the mattress(s) and inspects below what most see. Inspects the drawers, microwave and refrigerator. Our room didn't have a microwave or refrigerator. He lifted a mattress and found what looked like (from a distance) female "leakage" on the white bed skirt. GROSS!!! My husband immediately told me to get out and call another place to stay. He returned the room key (while I watched the neighboring tenant get arrested) and they asked him so give them another chance and told them to keep the $70 and we would NEVER be back! We travel through about 10 trips a year. That's 20 stays a year they won't get from us. P.S. The Fred Sanford TV in the room with only one channel was a nice touch. NOT!!! The walls had fresh paint though. Coffee pot was a nice touch also if only there were coffee...
