First, we pulled up and half the staff was outside smoking. They were friendly and helpful to get our rooms, but that was the best of it. My dad is very tall and has issues standing off a short toilet so after having to pull him off the toilet twice, I went and asked for a room change to a taller toilet. The clerk (that I had to call in from smoking) said there were no taller toilets in the hotel. ADA law says otherwise so I looked at him hard. I asked if there was a handicap suite and he said oh yeah but it's only got one bed. I said that's fine and got the room switch. No problem. I finally get back to unpack in my own room and realize I'd been walking barefoot. My feet were filthy! The carpet in the hall was sticky in spots but looked otherwise relatively clean. Apparently not. I went to the bathroom to wipe my feet clean and found there was missing and broken tile, and poorly repointed grout. Accepting this as par for the course, I get ready for bed. It was horrible. The bed was lumpy and there was an elephant above us until 4 am. The next day I get up and check out the continental breakfast. Cereal and bread. Coffee. Ok, fine. I check the sign for when they shut down breakfast. There's a chalkboard that says it will be open until 11am, so I take my time getting my group together. 10am, breakfast is gone and the clerk says they shut it down at 9am. I told her about the sign and she said no they always shut it down at 9. We decided to not spend a minute more and checked out. My mom asked about a senior discount, and they said it was already applied. I looked at the bill and saw it wasn't that different from mine so I asked what the discount was. $5. The $95 room was discounted to $90. For this. I was done. We left. I will look for ANYTHING else before staying...
Read moreThe owner for this hotel is scum. We reserved a room a year and a half in advance for the eclipse and were told the room was $100. We called mid March (three weeks prior to check in) and confirmed the price and our reservation. Both times we were told pay when we arrive.
Check in: The family of 5 that was in line in front of us had the same issue. They booked through Expedia for $100 and had the paperwork. The desk staff had no idea what was going on and the owner was only available by phone call. (I was later told the owner was in a neighboring town at another hotel). The owner wanted to charge $250 for one night. When the father of the family wouldn't back down on the price he was supposed to get, the owner told desk staff to cancel the family's reservation and kick them out.
Desk staff were basically middlemen, negotiating with the owner. They had no idea about the price changes and were sympathetic to customers. I can't stress enough how terrible the owner was treating customers over the phone. Cussing out a paying customer is never ok, especially if that customer is being polite but disagreeing with price gouging. While checking in, I pulled it up online and the price was $100 for the night, while being told I was paying $250.
Every other hotel in the area was fully booked so I'm the end, we had no options other than driving 4 hours home. The owner is a scum and showed her true nature.
The rooms: Very nice and well kept rooms. Yes, some tile was loose in the bathroom but it was updated and modern.
Summary: Decent hotel. The owner has no morals and is a terrible human being. Avoid unless you want to pay more than...
Read moreWe got a suite room 222. Great room right next to the stairs & parking especially with no elevator. The room was much bigger than expected. Couch folded out & AC worked great! Bed not so comfy, but room was very clean & even loved how the bathroom was setup very nicely! You could tell effort went into the setup with specially folded hand towels. WiFi & Satellite TV were great for the kids! Only thing missing was there is no elevator & ice machine only on the first floor. the breakfast was nicely setup. Make your own waffles, muffins, bagels , cereal, oatmeal & more. The breakfast area is very nice. Location is awesome! We also ate dinner around the corner at the Riverbend restaurant, it was very good. Visitor center & Dam Park close to check out, along with Fish Hatchery & Aquarium. Spring River access was not far to find. I will say the musty smell is noticed in some parts of the hotel as I noticed & some rooms as I spoke to other guests. Always someone at the front desk. Very helpful & nice. We had a great time & will be back! Highly recommend! Take into consideration the hotel accommodations are extremely limited in this area. After being a few times..this is 1 of 3 hotels I will ever stay at in this area when visiting Spring River. There is also a gas station & Sonic located right in front of the lodge withing walking distance!...
