We rented a cabin for a night and it was worth every penny. The campground is smaller, and it's right on the river. It's the perfect campground for bringing your kayak/SUP board. You can float right up to the Spring River dam. You can also check out the Warm Fork of the Spring River just to the left of the dam. It's so cool to have a natural occurring cold spring and warm spring meeting together. If need be, the owner does provide rental options for kayaks. The owner was super nice and had thought of everything for the cabins. The cabins do come with a private bathroom and shower, but there is also a shared bathroom area for those that are just wanting to camp. The cabins have tv, microwave, full size fridge, dishes/utensils, coffee maker, and will easily sleep 4 people. We can't wait to come back. If you need a well lit area at night, I recommend cabin 2. If you prefer a dark night setting, then you will want to snag the other cabins. The office does have ammenities for sale, like wood, drinks, snacks, etc. The campground is within walking distance to a restaurant that's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner- and it's delicious. You may want to take the 1 minute drive due to the safety of the walk. We brought our toddler and she loved swimming in the cold spring. Everyone will tell you its too cold to swim, but I thought the water was perfect...
Read moreWe had reserved a campsite there for 3 nights to fly fish. I called 3 days ahead to check on conditions after some hard storms went through the area. I spoke with Susie and she assured me 1/2 the river would be clear as it is fed from the spring. When we arrived the entire river was muddy and all campsites were empty. I called Susie and she said they had a 72 hr cancellation policy but she would look into refunding part of our money. I never heard from her again. My complaint is the condition of the river was not what was conveyed by Susie. I felt I was mid informed of the conditions and charged unfairly. I didn’t expect it all back but some consideration for the conditions not being what was relayed by the representative on-site was disappointing. | This is apparently fished by mostly spin fisherman. It’s a bare bones campground right on the river with very little grass and campsites in the open with no division from one another. | I will not go...
Read moreThis was my first time truck camping and Susan in the office was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions over email before I drove up. The location is beautiful, right on the banks of the Spring River, and is about as close as you can get to Mammoth Spring State Park and downtown. The bridge & road have new sidewalks making it easy to walk around. The bath house is a little outdated, but was very clean with good warm water. Very strong water pressure at the campsites & WiFi if you want to stay connected. I had no cell phone service at all once I got to my campsite. I will definitely be staying here again.
I do want to point out that if the noise of trucks & trains bothers you, this is not the place for you to stay. Big rigs use their Jake brakes coming down the hill by the camp and it is located next to a very busy railroad. I enjoyed the noise but some may be...
