I will rate this park four stars despite the ongoing remodeling. As of my last visit the playground was still under construction. It appears to have separate playscapes side by side to cover both older and younger children. There is ample parking. If I'm not mistaken they have changed over 2 of the original 4 tennis courts into additional basketball courts. This is probably a good idea because a basketball court entertains more people at one time and will make better use of the space. It often seemed to me that more people were waiting to play basketball than tennis, I mean no disrespect to people who play tennis of course. It is a nice place to walk and also has soccer and softball. There is a walkway under the route 384 overpass to Mt. Nebo on Spring Street where there is a baseball and football field. If you cross Spring Street you will find Globe Hollow which provides a man-made pond-size swimming area where I went for swimming lessons in the summer when I...
Read moreWe had such a fun time exploring Charter Oak Park in Manchester, CT! If you’re looking for a spot to spend a chill afternoon with the kids, this place really hits the mark.
The playground is amazing — super clean, colorful, and has a great mix of stuff for both little ones and older kids. Ours could have stayed there all day between the swings, slides, and the mini zipline. There’s even a cool little music area with drums and chimes they loved playing with.
After the playground, we took a walk along the paved paths that wind through the park. It's super stroller-friendly and peaceful, with plenty of shady spots and open fields to run around in.
The best part, though? The creek. We stumbled on it just past the play area and the kids went straight in—shoes off, splashing around, hunting for little rocks and frogs. Totally unexpected and so much fun.
Definitely a great park for a laid-back, outdoor adventure. Pack snacks, maybe a towel for the creek,...
Read moreExcellent park right next to downtown Manchester. Nearly every sports field/court available from racket ball to basketball, tennis to baseball. If sports aren't your thing there's a delightful trail leading from downtown Manchester all the way to Bolton Notch I'd your up for a walk/bike. Excellent place to bring children with not only a vast play scape but also a wonderful instrument park for children of all ages to make pleasant music. A delightful park for all seasons. The only negative is that there used to be two baseball fields here and ever since the big storm two years ago the fields were in disarray. Instead of fixing them, it looks like the town of Manchester decided to remove them altogether. Maybe they will fix them in the future but it is a bit...
