Absolutely terrible. It may look beautiful and like you will enjoy a great experience living here but do not be fooled.
Management is absolutely horrible and extremely lazy. They often times close the pool because they do not take care of it. They make it extremely difficult to use any of the amenities that you have to pay $300 a month for (no it not optional). When you do get to use the pool for example (lucky you if they felt like opening it) they have screwed shut some of the sun deck doors so you are unable to enjoy the deck and the pool. You CANNOT get to the barbecue area at all through the sliding glass doors because they are ALL screwed shut. If you do open the doors, you face backlash of actually being yelled at by maintenance. You have to leave the pool area and go through row of bushes and plants to get to the barbecue area.
We also resigned our lease (awful decision) and when we did so we were not told we needed to have our key fobs updated either. So for 6 months we were not able to use to the amenity building what so ever and then we were told after many inquiries that our key fob had to be updated. 6 MONTHS BECAUSE SOMEONE DID NOT DO THEIR JOB.
It is a pet friendly apartment complex but there are no trash cans or puppy posts at my building. If our dog goes to the bathroom, we have to bag and walk three blocks up the hill to the main trash can. They also do not use pet friendly dog salt so your dog will get salt burns on his feet.
The front and back door locks are constantly broken and management does nothing to fix the issue other than removing the camera that used to be on the door in question. I did not choose a secure building for it to not be secure the entire time we have lived here.
And if you wanted to report any issues to the office or get any resolve - you will get NOWHERE. It was snowing, my dogs feet were burning, I did not have a working key fob and the office was locked 15 minutes before closing. When we FINALLY got inside because someone was leaving, we were told the building was closing soon and I simply laughed at the lack of customer service and poor management skills exhibited by the person working in the office who instead of opening the door to freezing residents - who pay to use the building especially fifteen minutes before it closes - and had her headphones in.
If you love over paying for rent and amenities that you are not able to use but pay to look at - this place is perfect for you.
Also do not believe the model apartment they show you. It is much nicer than the apartment you get and you definitely do not get the same finishes. If you think you are getting the same granite countertops the model has - you are not.
I have been very patient with the management team here and lived here for over a year, but I absolutely will not be continuing my lease here, I will not be renting from any somliving managed community, and I will be telling everyone I know to...
Read moreI just moved out and am so glad I did. When I moved in I was shown an updated apartment and was told this is what they look like. When I moved in it was an older apartment and never once informed me. Kathy, who no longer works there did not care that I was never informed. Her and some of the other office staff are some of the most miserable, and unhelpful people ever. There was no security in the building as the doors were broken and never locked. The apartment building had the worst smell ever that seeped through the doors and walls. I had to plug in air fresheners in all outlets and it was still unbearable. I put a maintenance request in for a bunch of small things when I first moved in and they were never fixed. At one point, maintenance did some work in the hall and left a hole in the wall for about a week then plastered over it and left it unpainted for about 3 months. When they finally painted, they got more on the carpet than they did on the wall. This became an eyesore every time I walked in and out of the building. The appliances, more specifically, the stove and dish washer were garbage. The stove never got hot enough and took about 15 seconds to actually ignite. The dishwasher was broken and would actually disintegrate every time I turned it on leaving black specs of metal on all my dishes. Maintenance did nothing about it.
One of the things that drew me to The Place at Catherine’s Way was the amenity center, which was always stuffy and was never the cleanest. I wouldn’t think about swimming in the pool or going in the steam/sauna rooms as they were all rundown and were dirty. The other main thing that drew me to the apartments were the included carport. Carport was fine except when it rained hard, it would leak right above me car which ruined the whole point of it. Maintenance again did nothing about it.
That all being said, if I had any other carport it would have been nice. The storage unit was very nice. For the amount of money, you get a lot of space and the apartments were nicely laid out. This place has A LOT to do to convince me to recommend it to even my worst enemy but it did have it’s upsides which made the long year slightly...
Read moreUPDATE: moved out and good riddance! The pool/clubhouse has been closed since March for "renovations" but there is no one ever actually working on it. The beautiful sparkling pool on the website is a complete lie, and also not even available in the foreseeable future. Kept a MASSIVE chunk of our security deposit despite leaving our unit spotless. Charged us rent after we moved out while we had no keys or access to the unit. Emailed, called several times to address this issue and never did we receive a response not even from corporate. We are grateful to be done with this place. The units themselves are really lovely. Plenty of space for a family. Not the greatest experience with the front desk staff. Overall lack of communication with move in process. The manager did what she could to make it right. Community amenities are so awesome (one of the reasons we chose this for our short term lease.) I don't even mind paying an additional fee to use them. However, I've been down to use the pool 4x in the last 3 weeks, and it was closed 3x. No one can really tell you when it will be reopened just that its being cleaned. The gym is nice and we get good use of it. The theater..my husband and son spent several hours trying to make it work and weren't able to. No staff knows how to fix it either. Another amenity unavailable to us. Lastly. The building hallways have strong odors of cat urine. They were recently cleaned but the odor lingers. I'm told they will be ripping carpets up and putting in wood floors but not sure when that will happen. The hallway walls are dirty and a hole was kicked into one of the landing walls. Also, despite the rule disallowing smoking/vaping of any kind in the buildings, that odor is constantly pungent in the common areas of the buildings. It's a lovely property with beautiful dogwood trees and plenty of green space and the unit we have is spacious with vaulted ceilings, really beautiful and perfect size. The place offers great amenities. However when they are so frequently not accessible it is very...
