Kato Escape — Attraction in Mankato

My friends and I came here tonight and did the 80s escape room, we were looking for something fun to do together and I’m so glad we chose this! I had never been to an escape room before and wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy it but honestly we were genuinely stumped often and laughing hysterically when we finally figured out a clue or the host gave us a clue that really helped, other things were just too perfect like a duck falling out of the ceiling after unlocking something, the puzzles and setup definitely kept us engaged and always surprised, I’m not sure if all escape rooms are this much fun but we had a blast! We did have some difficulty with the locks and the correct codes not working until pushing on them a very certain way so it might be helpful to ask the host who’s monitoring (literally just ask out loud, they’re listening so that they can help) if you have the code correct or not if you’ve tried and feel...

So. Much. FUN!!! Our family of 4 booked the Magician's Room for a birthday celebration. Only one of us had ever done an escape room before, so this was a new experience for most of us. From beginning to end, it was wonderful! Their website is so clear and easy to use--I was very impressed with how easy it was to book a room. Then, when I needed to change the reservation (twice!), I anticipated some difficulty, but they made changing it super-easy, as well! We were greeted by friendly staff, who seemed genuinely happy to see us and to help guide us through the experience. Once in the room, we had a fabulous time working together to solve the many puzzles, and when we escaped with 10 minutes to spare, we were sad that it was over. It was the first escape room my group has done and we had a good time. We look forward to trying the other rooms in the future. We did Ivans Will and found a good balance of clue trails to follow and things to find and discover. Any family or group should find it a good time for a reasonable rate.

General feedback is that I wish we could have been better briefed on the hint system as I think we wanted to spend a little more time on a couple of the final clues. Maybe it was because another group was up and coming but it was a bummer to hear the hint phone ring when we were getting close and the hint was such a tiny step that could have been solved with a pinch more time.
