The 507 — Restaurant in Mankato

I was here the other day and for the first 20 minutes, we weren’t even helped. Our waitress kept walking by but never asked if we needed menus or drinks. It wasn’t busy & we were on the patio. After she helped us we put an order in right away. I asked for cheese curds with ranch and my friend ordered buffalo chicken sliders. We got our food fast, but no ranch for me, however my friend’s sliders had ranch on them. Another friend put in the same order for the sliders as soon as we got our food and our waitress said she’d be back with the ranch. When she came back she had the sliders, which had ranch, & told me that the cooks were making the ranch right now. At this point the cheese curds were out for 45 minutes and nobody had touched them. Once she brought the ranch, she also brought the checks. I politely asked if she could just take them off the tab considering I hadn’t touched them and that I only ate them with ranch. She got snippy right off the bat and said she’d ask her manager. She came back down, faster than any other time we had service here, & said her manager said somebody has to pay for them and that I can go up to discuss further. When I confronted him about the situation he said it will ruin “his inventory” and that “any other place wouldn’t take them off”. I had even mentioned the slider incident and that I would have been fine waiting for the cheese curds had I been informed there was “no ranch”. I’m not confrontational unless necessary and he was the most immature & incompetent manager I have ever encountered. It ended with “I don’t have time for this so we’ll just take it off I guess”. It sucks because it had an ideal patio for my friends and I for the summer, but considering we’re all in the food industry, this was unacceptable management...

The servers were friendly and all, and I enjoyed the atmosphere, but the wait and the speed of the food was horrible. It was a seat yourself place, but we sat for 20ish minutes before having to ask for menus. Then, we waited a decent amount of time for drinks and finally to get our order in. Then, from the time we ordered to the first meals we got was around 45 minutes. But, our food was so staggered that the last person in my group didn't get her food until over an hour after the first entrees. But, that wasn't because the kitchen was slow, they served her entree with another order. I get it, it was busy, but it was their mistake and we watched many other meals come out while we waited for hers. Eventually, she's told she's going to get her food and full refund, but then they turn around and say refund no food. Like, what?? Sure, we came in on a busy night, but I still think they can do better. Definitely agree with the AI summary of...

Pros: Food was delicious. Staff was attentive. Drinks were good. All in all, a nice modern twist on the classic diner experience.

Cons:. It was cold outside... And inside wasn't any better. As a smoker, I miss the ability to puff on an appropiatly paired tobacco with a particular meal (another would have levelled off the experience had we at least been able to enjoy it in an outside dining area with our drink-flights, however; as with most places anymore, you could not smoke upon the premise. Not on EITHER of the astro-turf laden outdoor dining areas!). So we couldn't smoke unless we went off premises into the sidewalk, and coming inside did nothing to warm us up. Mind you, it's not their fault I chose to smoke; it was just cold inside their restaurant. The only other con was the menu selection... Once you read one section it became obvious that they simply used the same ingredients...
