The apartment/complex is great, a little spendy but the construction noise is AWFUL and really loud. Wakes me up every morning at 7am (sometimes earlier when they start before they’re supposed to). The windows/walls in east being so thin doesn’t help either.
Edit: While construction noise may not occur any longer, the way the complex handled the process was unacceptable. Before leases for the next year was signed, corporate office held a Q and A panel for residents, where we answered questions about a potential new apartment complex. When we asked them if they were building another complex in mankato for mnsu campus, they specifically told us no, that it was in a different location (not in the city of mankato) and that they were just curious about what students in general looked for in apartments. After the deadline to sign new leases ended, a few months later is when they decided to announce that they were building a new complex directly attached to the current complex and there would be construction. Had I known construction would occur, I wouldn’t have signed a lease there (as obviously, this is a major factor to consider). I don’t agree with lying to residents about this. But there were also additional frustrations. There were times where our water would be shut off without adequate notice, our electricity was going out frequently due to construction, they reassigned parking lots after we had signed up for specific parking privileges (in which there were perks for taking a lower parking pass with a deadline), and at one point had all of our windows in the apartment covered/taped over for unnecessary exterior repainting without any notice or timeline. The weeks leading up to the end of my lease, office staff ignored concerns and requests either by not responding at all or shifting responsibilities. They even tried bribing me to take down my “bad” review (which was 3 stars at the time, so an average review) with a guest parking pass that was closer than usual for my boyfriend. I was put in an uncomfortable position where I had to tell them I won’t take it down 3 or 4 times before the landlord would write my pass and hand it to me. All they are concerned about is looking good to new leasers and getting as much money as possible. I have no doubt that they have asked others to remove their “bad” reviews as well and offered things in return. That’s just poor business practice and there was horrible transparency. They’re very overpriced apartments with poor management and you’d have better luck renting elsewhere. I am very glad to be out of this complex, it caused a great deal of stress to live here, and have never experienced a living situation...
Read moreExtra ultra convenient apt location for MSU students!! You can walk to class in like 5 minutes! Beware if you're not a resident, nor parking to go to one of the businesses here... if you think you can park here and walk across the street to class, you WILL get towed! They always have eyes out watching and will quickly call you in to be TOWED! But if you want to actually live here, DO IT! It was our favorite place to live in Mankato, and we moved around 4 or 5 times...and as a student it was hella convenient to get to class! Seriously you couldn't get closer if you wanted to live in an apt "off-campus"... and plus it's above tons of restaurant options, seriously the convenience is so worth it... You will have to find a few roommates, and make sure they are people you can actually live with... don't just choose crazy people to share your home with or you will be seriously miserable! All in all these apts are super cute, and absolutely perfect for MSU students to just tromp off to class, bing bang boom, you're just across the street if you forget a book, or sleep in a tad bit too late... no worries! Only suckie part is the limited parking for residents... there is the tiny lot in the back, but if you don't get a spot there you have to park in MSU's brown or orange lot or something, whatever it was it seemed incredibly far when hauling groceries from so far away.... we dropped & exploded a gallon of milk or two, trying to haul everything in one...
Read moreThe convenience of living here out weights every pool, work out room or tanning bed you’d find in any other apartment/condo complex in Mankato. Alan and Kathy are ELITE and run the show very well! It’s a 3 minute walk to Myers field house. You got vending machines in case you’re craving something at 4am and not to mention the multiple eatery's and liquor store just down stairs. Internet is crazy fast. Room size is big enough for a college kid. I’ve lived in college town before and my room was way to big for all the stuff I had and made the room feel empty. Overall, if you’re just looking for a cheap place to live with your friends. U Square should be your...
