I have a huge complaint with this park because i live very close by. I love to go there. Its not the park itself but Calfire and the East Bay Regional Parks District that i have a big problem with. It was a beatuiful day, 70 degrees and somewhat windy on 9/23/18. I had plans to have a BBQ with my family and some friends doing the most innocent of things like cooking food and sharing good times. Many other seperate groups were planning the same thing. Then everyone got kicked out because we were not allowed to BBQ with coals, gas grills only. This happened right when the coals were ready. Everyone had to pack up and leave. I was pissed i was livid. No signs were posted and who the hell checks some website to see if it okay the BBQ at park that has grills located by picnic tables. Everyone's day was ruined all because of some some ludacris fear of fire. Apparently no has been able to have a charcoal BBQ for a month because of some level 2 fire warning. This applies to all parks in the district?? And i was told by the ranger this would last to October?? When is a good time to BBQ? Only in the winter when its cold and rainy!? What is the point of having these facilities if they can never be used. So in conclusion if you want to legally BBQ (I cant believe legally BBQ has to be said) stear clear of Martinez. PS; all BBQ grills were surrounded by short green grass and near water fountains. They have...
Read moreThere were quite a few people in different vehicles;more big and loud pick up trucks, doing donuts in the back lot several times on different days and weather conditions. Many times before the rains,so that huge amounts of dirt "fog" would occur. Or a little farther back, spin out in the graveL area. Yesterday was too much to watch as these idiots were going very fast in the pouring ran which caused near misses with other vehicles as well as with the cement mounted lite posts. Oddly,no law enforcement.probably busy harassing homeless people, when they could be as well cracking down on the incesent SPEEDING occuring from the tracks,ESPECIALLY AT THE CURVE!!,to the waterfront DAILY!!! IT doesn't feel safe at times to attempt the two crosswalks at the curve and in past the bocce courts near playground. So i feel dreadful that recklessness is neither a safety concern as well as the bad behavior is allowed in the first place. I made my friend drive us out of that area regardless since it was too nerve racking to just "ignore." I only give 1star to these incidents, not the park or waterfront overall. JUST SAYING WHAT IVE OBSERVED AS WELL AS EXPERIENCED TO BRING AWARENESS TO THESE...
Read moreMartinez Regional Shoreline Waterfront Park is a relaxing place to walk. It has a good trail system with diverse wildlife and ecosystem. There are signs that detail the areas wildlife, history and paths. The smells of the brackish salt water at low tide, the rustling of marsh grasses and cool breezes blowing off the the carquinez strait/Suisun Point Channel are mesmerizing. Dogs aren't allowed in a good portion of the park, only in one small designated area and on paved paths only. Not on the gravel ones. The trains are very active as are the big oil tankers delivering to Shell. You can easily walk out on to the wharf. The views are wonderful, we like to go early in the morning before anything is crowded, it is still cool and crisp. Wear sturdy...
