I came around here to watch a baseball game with my son. I am from outta town so I am not familiar with the area, keep in mind. I liked the park and all, but I did however get chased by a goose. maybe it's my pharmones or something, but these guys always chase me! So I ran off, almost tumbled down a hill and nearly lost my showe in the process. That musta been the fastest I ran in my life! anywho, I get on down the hill and see the river down near this here park. I tripped on a root on the ground and this is when my shoe did come oiff. It ended up goin flying into the river! KErsplat! gone! I did try to goin and fish it out, but by the time I got in the water it was no wheres to be seen. so iyt was for the next two hours I waddled round, trying to get unlost. Only had one shoe for the whole of it!! My numbskull son dodn't think to come look for me so he waited by the car he couldnt get into cause I had the keys! Shoulda sent out a...

A fun park. There is multiple baseball fields and basketball courts. I walked the trails with friends. The etiquette of everyone on the trails was nice. Bikers announced they were there, and people with dogs made sure the dogs didn't jump on you. I rate it four stars as the trails cross multiple places where you are not really in the woods anymore. At times you have to cross asphalt roads to continue. It is over all a nice place to run with nice scenery and wildlife. I seen deer, beavers, wasps, and bees. I also seen various spiders and different beetles. There was a plethora of birds to view as well. If you are into nature or ready to get out of the hustle and bustle of Maryland, this is a not far away...

Relaxing, forested trail for running/cycling/walking following the course of Little Patuxent River, leading to a loop around Lake Elkhorn near Columbia (totaling about 10.4 miles to & fro). Safe neighborhoods. Owners walking their dogs do a good job of controlling their leashes to let the runners by. Excepting the concrete uphill section by Vollmerhausen Rd., the trail is mostly level on dirt/asphalt, wear gaiters to avoid pebbles in shoes. The wooden bridges can get slippery after rain. Place kept me sane...

Great park, lots of trails kid friendly ones, the river splits in 2, couple places you can cross in the water, trails on both sides of the river, you can hike 4 miles to lake elkhorn and end up in Columbia MD lol. The park itself is huge with places for parties, a couple big parking lots, public restrooms, basketball courts, tennis courts, 4 baseball fields etc. It’s a very nice park but I go for the trails which are great!!

Nice park, well maintained. During off peak hours, things get a little shady near the baseball fields in the back of the park. If you’re visiting to hike the trails or access the river, I recommend that you park near the tennis courts at the front of the park. Regarding river access, it’s a short easy hike down to the river where you can fish for stocked trout in branches of both the Little and Middle Patuxent Rivers.
