Bounty Music — Attraction in Maui

I’ve had various bad experiences with this place.

I wanted to order a brand of midi keyboard they didn’t have in stock. They said sure, so I gave them my number and showed them what I wanted. They said they’d call back. 2 or so weeks went by and I never received a call, so I went in again. Again, some guy took my info and the model I wanted and said I’d get a call. Never got one. So I ordered it from Amazon instead.

I wanted to buy headphones. They have probably around 20 different kinds with prices ranging from $50 to $300+. I asked someone in the store if they could tell me about the differences between them. He basically said “uhhh, I dunno.” I called a friend of mine who is a sound technician, and he gave me a detailed information on exactly what would suit my needs. As a store that specializes in certain products, they should know about the products they sell.

I told an employee I wanted to buy saxophone reeds and a ligature. The employer said “uhhh, what’s that?” (Another employee who doesn’t know anything about music equipment.) Thankfully, they had what I needed, just took some time, and I had to help him look.

I bought a fender electric guitar from them. A couple weeks later, it developed a severe buzz on the high E string. I brought it to a guitar tech and he told me that the neck is absolutely terrible and should be replaced. I didn’t want to spend that kind of money repairing a guitar I just bought. He said I should try to go return it. I decided I didn’t want to deal with the hassle, so had him file down a fret or two to make it at least useable. They don’t quality control their guitars, and you might buy a bad one. Buy elsewhere or bring a professional in to help you pick one out.

I’m so used to music stores with people passionate about the products, who are happy and eager to tell you all about them. And if they don’t know something, they’ll research it for you. So I’m always a bit shocked by this place, but 4 times have taught me my lesson. Feels like music...

Aloha Mai Kākou! I always enjoy coming into Bounty Music for My musical needs. They’re very kind, friendly, & patient. Most recently I had brought in my grandmother’s vintage Kamaka ukulele to fix. Tim was so phenomenal, compassionate, kind, very empathetic to hear my story about grandma’s ukulele. It was the very last ukulele she had left from the Lāhaina fire in August 2023. I also had mentioned my anxieties of trusting people to fix my instruments. Tim had shared his knowledge of fixing instruments, his passion for music playing especially owning his own ukuleles. I felt relieved, I could trust him. We connected like family. Tim not only fixed & restored grandma’s ukulele, he put in the Aloha back into the ukulele & made the sound much more beautiful. I couldn’t have been any more grateful & blessed for that. I now trust only Tim to fix any of my ukuleles in my future endeavors moving forward. Yesterday, like usual I walk in to Bounty Music again for the things I need. I was happily greeted by everyone, especially Tom. Tom knowing I’m a regular customer bcuz I was just in their store 2 days prior for ukuleles charts, Tom knew I needed assistance. He stopped what he was doing, kindly, & politely asked me if I needed help. I said yes, I needed a new case for my 6 string ukulele. Tom helped me find the right case for my ukulele. I felt at ease of my choice of my ukulele case. I even got a kindly suggestion from another worker of theirs. I thanked him also. Overall I will always be Grateful, Thankful for all Bounty Music crew. They’re the best at what they do. They compassionate people. If you’re ever in need of music supplies on Maui island, Bounty Music is the place to go. Blessings upon All of Bounty Music’s people including the owner Paul. They’re all great people with Aloha.
