We spent one night at the Maui Seaside Hotel as our last night on Maui before we flew to the Big Island. We needed a place near the airport and we paid a reasonable rate for a King Bed Garden View room.
Admittedly, we arrived quite late due to storms on the Hana Highway making our trip back to Kahului take much longer than we expected. We were likely given what was left and/or a lesser room since we booked through Delta Stays instead of directly from the hotel. But for the price we paid, it was disappointing.
The 1 King Bed room we were given was on the ground floor and was at the very end of the building near the Bay. It was nothing like the images they show of a Garden Room. It was very small, with barely enough room to walk around the bed. The only place to put your luggage was on top of the table and on top of the dresser. The room was all white walls with some basic artwork that was nothing like the pictures on the website, and the furniture was mismatched and looked quite worn out. The room was very depressing. It did include a mini-fridge and a room safe, but those items took up the majority of the closet space.
The room was not very clean as there was visible dirt on the floor, there were hairs in the shower and sink, and there were multiple bugs crawling around in the bathroom when we arrived. The shower controls were messed up which made turning the shower off very difficult. The bed was not comfortable with springs sticking up in several places and very uncomfortable pillows.
They still use room keys that have magnetic strips which get erased quite easily if they are placed next to credit cards, a Mag-Safe cell phone case or a wallet with a magnetic clasp. We had one key get erased two times during our one night stay. I witnessed three other guests needing a new room key for similar reasons.
The staff were friendly enough, but as we experienced in most of Maui, weren't as friendly as the other Hawaiian Islands we visited on this trip. The lobby and pool areas were very nice and it appears that there is an effort being made to get this property ready to be part of the Hilton Tapestry collection next summer.
The location is great for getting to the airport, and it would be serviceable for visiting the whole of Maui as it is somewhat centrally located to the South, East and West sides of the island. There are restaurants in the area, but not much is walk-able from the hotel. The area is more industrial as it's near the harbor and the area has more of a business center feel to it. Not saying that the area is a bad place to stay, but it definitely does not have the resort feeling of the other areas of Maui.
Personally, I don't think we would stay here again based off the experience we had. It sounds like the renovated rooms or even the pool side rooms may have been a better option and might have made for a better stay, but I think there are better places to stay for the prices of those rooms, including the new Hampton Inn next door that opened the week after we...
Read moreMy recent stay at the Maui Seaside Hotel in Kahului was nothing short of incredible, and I'm delighted to share my wonderful experience with the Yelp community. Here's a comprehensive review of this exceptional family-run hotel that captures the essence of authentic Hawaiian hospitality.
From the moment I entered the recently redesigned hotel, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine aloha spirit. The staff at Maui Seaside Hotel worked diligently to uphold the cherished Hawaiian traditions of hospitality throughout my entire stay. Their attention to detail, personalized service, and dedication to ensuring the comfort of every guest was truly commendable. The Maui Seaside staff were very charming and always helpful, which added an extra touch of warmth to my overall experience.
The hotel's location proved to be a perfect starting point for exploring the beautiful island of Maui. Being near Kahului Harbor and only 2 miles away from the airport made traveling to and from the hotel seamless. This central location allowed me to easily venture out and discover all that Maui has to offer, from its pristine beaches to its lush rainforests and captivating cultural experiences.
Maui Seaside Hotel proved to be a great deal for budget-conscious travelers like me. With reasonable rates, I was able to save money and allocate it towards various exciting activities and experiences across the island. The hotel's shuttle van service to and from the airport was extremely convenient and comfortable, ensuring I had a stress-free start and end to my journey.
I must mention the fantastic amenities surrounding the hotel. Being diagonally across the street from Bistro Casanova and Whole Foods was a delightful surprise. These culinary hotspots provided delectable options for dining and shopping. Nearby, Longs Drug Store took care of all my necessities, and the charming Momona Bakery and Coffee Shop down the street offered delightful treats and refreshing coffee blends.
Throughout my stay, I felt a genuine sense of belonging, as the staff treated me like Ohana (family). From check-in to check-out, every interaction left a positive and lasting impression. Their dedication to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere was evident in every detail. General Manager William Rees, who has prior experience at Royal Kahana Maui by Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, was exceptionally helpful and courteous. I found out that he also won the Po‘okela Excellence in Leadership Award, which speaks volumes about his commitment to guest satisfaction.

Read moreThis has been my worst hotel stay in my entire life. The elderly receptionist, Ramona, called the police after she overcharged me 300$. Keep reading-
Everything here went bad except for Josaia, we were checking out at the hotel at around 6:20a.m. and were greeted by the most horrible customer service worker ; Ramona.
This morning upon check-out at Seaside, my friend and I were greeted by Ramona. At first, she seemed pleasant, but this quickly took a turn for the worst. I explained to her that I had booked through a third-party app called Best Hotel Deals, to which she questioned the authenticity. She called the representative and was excessively rude. She said, "Are you even a legitimate company?" and "You're absolutely no help goodbye". I gave her my credit card digits one by one and she ran the transaction SUCCESSFULLY. She told us that she was honouring the late-night walk-in fee and quickly said "Actually, I'm not doing this. You girls are not nice people, you can call back to speak to Gary and I'm not giving you his e-mail". She would not honour the price I was quoted the night prior which was 431$(CAD). Instead, she called the police after SUCCESSFULLY charging me 735.98$(CAD). She wouldn't let us speak to a manager, and I have voice recording of her threats. I couldn't believe how she mistreated the guests.
In a switch of a second, Ramona proceeded to tell us "I'm not a nice person, and I'm calling the police on you both for being rude". Meanwhile, my friend and I were absolutely baffled by her customer service which was non-existent. She called the police and said, "help me remove two females that refuse to leave". This was AFTER the fact that Ramona charged me 735.98$(CAD)for a walk-in rate. The 3 police cruisers showed up, and Ramona left the office from a side door facing the water.
The service I've received from Ramona was deeply scarring and a horrible first impression of Maui. The other receptionist, Fe, was very polite and calm. She seemed confused as to why 3 police CRUISERS and 3 police officers were at hotel. Fe helped me reach out to the manager.
I paid 300$(CAD) extra and was mistreated so poorly by your receptionist Ramona. It was as if she had a change of personality mid shift. Never in my life have I had such an unpleasant experience travelling. Josaia went above and beyond to leave us with a happy impression. He triple checked the booking e-mail and pending bank statement to make sure all was great. He was the only person on staff that would merit any recognition and promotion.
I would like this to be rectified as well as receive compensation. I have never had the police called on me, and certainly not while on vacation after flying 13 hours.
The owner has never bothered to reach out with an apology or atleast a form of compensation do not stay here! I plan on making a social media post about this stay along with...
