This is another childhood memory for me. Another place that has survived the years and an ever changing island. This family has managed to keep the business in the family and going strong. Now keep in mind this is not Baskin Robbins. This is maui old school ice cream. It comes in 2 flavors, strawberry and pineapple. And the sell a few other items but that's it. Now before you get disappointed or put off give it a try. I know from experience most people love it some don't get the big deal and some don't like it but that's why we're all different. Where mainlanders have chilled lemonade for their hot summer day snack, we have guri guri. The price has always been more than affordable, service is quick, and serves as the perfect snack for when the heat starts getting to you. I'm not much a fan of the pineapple flavor personally; strawberry has always been my go-to option. Really for the price, there is no comparison. A McFlurry from McDonald's will be halfway melted by the time I get back to my workplace and you can't exactly hold an ice cream cone while driving. What is this, I have no idea. Not ice cream, not shaved ice and not sorbet. We have never had anything like it, very light (not heavy like ice cream) not hard or freezing like shaved ice. I love this because it’s not like a huge dose of sugar, it’s somewhat sweet but not overly sweet.

The still wood spoon scoops this desert so easy so it is not a solid frozen cream. Whatever these people have here I wish someone would figure this out and take it National.

From what I understand, when these owner time out there is no one to pick up the torch and this recipe will be gone.
