This beach park is right on the ocean directly in front of the Fairmont Kea Lani. I like it because it has a large amount of shaded beach parking, a decent bathroom, good beach showers, a fairly short walk from the parking area, and numerous picnic tables. To get to the parking go past the resort (if you’re coming from Kihei direction) and take the first right, drive down past the other resort entrance and you’ll see the parking gates on your right. Note: if you’re planning on staying at the beach past 8:00 pm park on the road outside the beach parking, beach parking area closes at 8:00. Keep in mind the entire south Maui area normally gets trade winds ricocheting off the West Maui’s so expect rougher wind waves from noon on. If you’re going to stay in this area it’s beautiful but get up early to enjoy the beach and snorkeling but plan on relaxing at the resort pool from noon on. Don’t get me wrong, everything is relative, this beach can be enjoyed almost every day all year but the AM is the best. The pictures and video I’m posting with this review we taken between 5:00-6:00 pm HST, late July. Very...
Read moreI love Polo Beach! The Park Has Restrooms, Great Cold flowing showers, picnic tables and benches. Trees and shade areas to help keep cool and access to Polo Beach as well as the Wailea Beach sidewalk access around the Wailea Resorts starting from the Park around the Fairmont Kea Lani, heading North West bound around to the Wailea Point and the Four Seasons Resort.
The beach also has dangerous shorebreak surf at times. Occasionally rogue waves and certain swells can create dangerous shorebreaks on shore. Use Caution. Early Mornings are best. Calm to light Winds typically. And also calm ocean/seas in the early morning. Typically can get very windy in the Noon to late afternoon time. Which sometimes causes Sandy/Sand blasts from the Gusts of the On Shore Winds from Haleakala and...
Read moreAs beaches were meant to be… Public parking is available but entrance to the beach (10’ wide public right away) is well marked. It’s about 1/4 walk from parking to the beach sand. Sandy part of beach is wide but beach itself is long coastal so you can enjoy a long walk and sunset is beautiful during the summer months There are area that sun worshipers were sunbathing in their birthday suits. I didn’t see any bathroom or wash off area and definitely no shops. If you are in Waikiki/Honolulu area and this might be a good day trip to get away people. Swimming in July was very nice even though it was a very windy day. There are no shades in the AM hours so take some that can withstand some...
