We visited this beach on August 16, 2023 just after Hurricane Dora passed a distant 500 miles south of Hawaii and the terrible fires in Lahina. Compared to the other beaches we visited, the waves here were the mellowest and the sand stayed shallow a lot further out than the other beaches we visited. This beach was ideal for young children, at least on the day we visited. We also spotted a number of turtles swimming right off the beach as well as a pretty good snorkeling spot on the south side of the beach near the rocks.
