I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting Willow Stream Spa for a massage and facial appointment, which turned out to be two separate appointments at different times. Being on a business trip with a changed meeting schedule, I inquired if I could adjust the timing or switch the order of services. To my dismay, the staff insisted that I cancel the appointment, pay a 100% penalty, and rebook for a later date.

What disappointed me even more was the lack of flexibility and understanding from the manager, Jen. Her inability to handle the situation in a professional and accommodating manner was quite surprising for a supposedly 5-star luxury spa. Despite the fact that several people came in to book appointments for that day, ensuring that the spa wouldn't have lost any revenue due to my changes, I was met with inflexibility and a strict cancellation policy.

Reluctantly, I paid the 100% penalty and proceeded with only one of the services, canceling the second appointment. Throughout my visit, the staff kept asking if I would be coming back, clearly indicating their intention to rebook the time slot if I didn't return. This left me feeling like my business wasn't valued and that their main concern was filling the appointment slot rather than providing a satisfactory experience.

The sole reason for my one-star rating is the positive encounter I had with a different manager during a subsequent visit. This individual was friendly, helpful, and managed to turn my experience around. However, it is disheartening that a different manager was required for me to receive the level of service I had expected from a luxury spa.

In conclusion, my visit to Willow Stream Spa was a complete disappointment. The lack of flexibility, unaccommodating attitude, and ill-equipped management left a lasting negative impression. This past weekend I was gifted a massage at the Fairmont Spa and what an amazing experience. Upon my arrival I was greeted by a gentleman at the reception desk. I got there early and he suggested I take advantage of the spa facilities prior to my appointment. He mentioned I would have time after my appointment to enjoy as well. He brought me to a seating area in which the spa attendant would meet me to take me back.

Riikka was the female spa attendant. She guided me in a full tour of the spa and educated me on the amenities the spa had to offer. With the extra time, I fully indulged in the clay bar and steam room.

When it was time for my massage, my massage therapist, Noelle met me in the coed lounge. As we made our way to the treatment room she referred to the intake form I completed prior to my arrival, discussing any concerns and issues I’d like to work on during my massage. Once she started the massage I knew it was going to be a great one, not just fluff. She worked on areas we talked about and throughout the massage she checked in with the pressure, environment and my comfort. When it was over she guided me back to the spa and I spent more time in the spa facilities.

After an hour, it was time to leave. I walked through the retail area and picked up a couple of items. The receptionist helped me find items and answered any questions I had. I recently celebrated my birthday at Fairmont Spa with a friend, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in a cozy atmosphere, enhanced by the warm and welcoming staff. While there isn’t a jacuzzi or pool, the eucalyptus steam room in the clay bar was an absolute highlight for us.

The treatment rooms were serene, and the quality of the services was exceptional. My friend enjoyed a fantastic massage from Brittany, while I indulged in a facial with Jen. The treatment room bed was warm and comfortable, and Jen’s kindness, along with her soothing voice, made the experience truly special. With 24 years of experience, she explained every step of the facial process, leaving me feeling pampered and well-informed. The products used, including the honey mask and hair treatment, were impressive—I can't recommend her enough!
