La plaza en Rincón is beautiful. Very clean and well maintained. Many beautiful plants. It is surrounded by many shops and eating places and is within walking distance from the beach. City hall is across the street. I felt safe walking by myself both day and night, crowded or not. Every Thursday night, they have an art festival where local artists and artisans display and sell their work. I really enjoyed attending the art festival.

This is a great place to visit, historic site lovely cathedral on one side and Yaguez Theater on the other side. Best time to visit is Christmas time, actividades vary from year to year. One year they had free ice skating, last year they had some carnival rides and a carusel free until a certain time. Filled with local sweets and food for the Christmas season and some days free live music. We go every year.

Plaza Colón is the traditional town square of Mayagüez with its church and townhall on the periphery. It also surrounded by multiple restaurants and stores. The place is clean and the landscape is in good condition. Today, a Saturday night, the place is lively, which is likely in part due to the open-air Friend's Café which make really good coffee.

Very nicely lit plaza for Christmas. Few food trucks and kids rides nearby. The beyond a few businesses around this central plaza there aren't many hang out spots here. You may be better off going elsewhere. We were staying in the area and had an evening free with not much to do so it turned out to be a nice little fun thing to do here.

Great place to just hang out, talk to people, listen to good music live, have a cup of coffee from Friend's, grab a bite or an ice cream just around the corner. On christmas they always have something going on, on the weekends. Mostly locals hang out here, but you will have a glance of what's the puerto rican culture.
