I was dissappointed that, after living abroad for years, arrive here and find out they cut off all the trees that used to give it such a nice vibe and shadows. It also made the christmas decorations rather dull, as the trees were used to be all covered in lights

The place is secure and family-friendly. A really beautiful plaza nevertheless and has Friend's Cafe, as well some Rex Cream close by for ice creams. There's not really much to do in it other than meet with people for some coffee and relax, so tourists keep in mind that. Nevertheless, many public activities happen there...

The plaza used to be without trees over 100 years ago. Since then, people came to their senses planted trees along the plaza. Mayor Benjamin Cole was the last one to maintain those trees so people had a nice Shady spot to spend the day at the plaza away from the searing tropical heat. Then came Mayor Rodriguez in his efforts to erase any memory of Mayor Benjamin Cole and redoing all Cole's Public works, which included spending a fortune rearranging the historic bronze statues and cut down the shady laurels at the plaza. The heat can be unbearable. Such a waste of...

Nice and clean plaza. Shops all around. I went during the week so parking was not an issue. They had a little cafe in the plaza. I did not try it as I already had lunch but it has frozen and iced drinks! A must see when in Mayaguez!!
