This is a beautiful park located in the heart of Mayagüez. As you enter the park you are transported into another world away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby city. There are plenty of walking or running trails around if you want to take some time to exercise.

There are also some beautiful gazebos in the park with a noticiable patina which allows them to blend in beautifully to their surroundings.

Towards the west end there is a small circular stream filled with so many koi fish that my children had a fun time giving them names. A few of the fish in this area were quite large and look like they have enjoyed a nice long life in their pond.

A short distance from the pond are some trees loaded with nesting egrets. While they are beautiful to admire from a distance, it can be quite smelly if you get too close to them and you are taking a risk of them pooping on you. 😂

A little farther to the southeast of the egrets there is a small playground with a picnic table and a drinking fountain. It was a great spot to relax while the kids enjoyed playing on the monkey bars and rocking back and forth on the other...

It’s a beautiful park with some infuriating quirks. For example, there’s a nice playground but it’s as far away as possible from everything else like the pond and the stage area. It’s a great place to hang out and spend the day, but it’s closed on the weekends and on random days during the week. More than once I’ve rolled up with an excited toddler to closed gates. At this point the baby says “oh it’s open!” It’s really a shame because it can’t cost much to keep a park open on the weekends in the daytime. There’s not a lot of safe public places for little ones to romp at in Mayaguez.

Es un parque como todo el oeste, maravilloso y digno de nuestro orgullo pero...

We loved the new playground, the shade, and how quiet it was once you got in there. The downside Is that once there is no street parking you have to park across a busy street in the parking lot or tiny parking garage that barely fit my yukon xl.

Okay, so we finally walked the whole park. There is a firetruck and fish in the far pond. And turtles. We spent a very long time playing with the fish who will follow you wherever you walk. There are also a bunch of birds (and wild green parrots). It felt very safe too, even though it was mostly us...

Beautiful park, lots of childhood memories. The park has been remodeled with new fish ponds, a pavillion and benches. Loved to see the pavillion lit up in the evening. The trees and foliage are native, gorgous gardens and even a paved path for bicycles. No dogs allowed, according to a person who apparently said he worked there.

Good place for walks and relaxation. Some repairs are needed, but it's just minor stuff. During Christmas, they set up entertainment and food trucks at certain hours. The fish pond could use a nice cleaning job.

This is an awesome, traquil park. Great Koi pond in the center. Beautiful wrought iron pavilion and don't miss the nesting Great Egrets along the back walk.
