Sylvia's & Uniques — Attraction in McAllen

If I could give zero stars I would. My mom likes shopping here so we decided to stop by and get her a mother's day present. As we were brousing the clothes the ladies working kept staring at us as if we were going to steal. I felt very uncomfortable. After searching, we found a shirt we were okay with. Mother's day passed and we came back to return said shirt because it didn't fit her. Less than 30 days has passed so we thought there would be no problem since its standard to be given 30 days or more. We were far from WRONG. Sylvia's gives you FIVE days to return or exchange. THERE IS NO SIGN or a verbal reminder since that's such little time. With a nasty attitude the lady helping us said "well it's on the receipt." I don't know about you but I don't read every receipt from every store I go to. Then after telling her my mom comes often and weren't aware of the policy she said "she's only been here three times" as if she's not a valued customer only because she hasn't gone more often. What does it matter if she's only gone three times? They only value you if you feed them all your money. Keep in mind the shirt we bought was $200 and they were treating us like it was nothing. I have been following this store since I moved to McAllen last year. I finally had the opportunity to go in to look at purchasing two dresses for a special photo shoot for my daughter and I. When I walked into the store, the two ladies in front of me were greeted and welcomed, I followed closely behind and was completely ignored. I went through half of the store and wasn't asked once if I needed assistance. The saleswoman didn't acknowledge me at all during this entire process of looking at evening gowns. Needless to say, I won't be returning. Based on this experience and other reviews, I can agree that they are completely judgemental and only help you if you look a certain way. A beautiful store with an abundance of stunning pieces. A pleasurable shopping ambiance. They have a great team. And a great selection of sizes. Beautiful accessories too. I was helped by Mayra & Stephanie. Purchased a very last minute gown for a wedding and they helped me find something I felt beautiful in, like magic! They also tailored it in house for me for a perfect fit. Also found an entire outfit for the rehearsal from head to toe! I am so grateful to have a place of this caliber in McAllen.
